Its cool if you wanna keep your earnings private. I post mine as an example of what "could be" at my carrier.
Like I said its not the greatest paying outfit out there and we have detractors as well but it works for me.
Eastern is also part of a larger entity; NEMF. Nemf is a union ltl carrier much the same as Conway is. Sure CFI (now conway truckload) is larger. No dispute there at all.
My contention was there are better paying jobs out there if you take the time to look for them.
Each person has to decide for themselves what is most important to them when deciding who to work for. Home time, Truck assignment, benefits, pay, type of trailer to haul, and operating region are just some of the factors we all need to consider.
Of course it all comes down to perspective. For me its about money, benefits, home time, and consistency.
Con-way Truckload Not what I thougth it would be. Stay off there payroll

Perfect example today sitting at a large grocers distribution got here at 0530 am still not unloaded. This is a local run so I get $20 bucks for today. Have 8 hrs left on my 14. Paid lumbers $145 I'll get maybe 30. #### it. Why is a local guy not doing this. I went on duty yesterday. So far in 2 days I've gotten 5 miles. Wtf.

Forget to add it's 0915 and I'm still not unloaded

Your retort sounded almost as bad as the OP's orig post. So what was the point?
If I worked for a company that kept me out a month and then dragged their heels on getting me home I would be doing more then just talking to a flt mng.
The fact that drivers like you have accepted and continue to accept the poor treatment of the avg OTR carrier, is why they do not change.
The OP did complain about things that should of been brought up in orientation. But if you are going to keep drivers out for several weeks at a time you should have a plan to get them home. And Conway does not. They get you home when they feel like it.jlkklj777 Thanks this. -
Silly question about shower stops...
Could one not simply put in 55 gal. of fuel, got the shower ticket, and leave. A few hours later (depending on tank size, of course) pull into another one to get a second free shower? Since in most cases showers re only good for a week, that should get you a 2-3 day buffer easily.

People right out of school are limited to where they can work. So saying that things won't change until people stop going to them is silly. How about changing these driver mill schools so that better companies might be more inclined to hire from them. Or better yet an apprentice program like alot of trades do.

Every time you stop, you loose at least fifteen minutes, more if fueling and such.
Every time you fuel costs you time on your log book.
If a company driver, that practice may be frowned upon, and if a O/O, you'd want to buy the cheapest fuel, and get the most of it you can. -
And many of the people going to the schools are doing it not because they love trucking but because they are desperate and can be in a truck making money in 4 weeks they have no clue what they are in for. Then when they get out there and are expected to drive hundreds of miles a day in all kinds of weather they can't get out of the truck fast enough.
Most of the newbies on this board a year ago are probably not even driving anymore.

well I'll end this week with 1235 miles. 2 days of that was local in which I have just check my paycheck and it says NP. (No Pay) 24hours and not even the $20 bucks they owe me. I'll call. but I shouldn't have to. Talked to my buddy from a class before me today he said he arrived at shipper 10 minutes early and the guy said it was to hot to load his trailer and that he would have to wait until in the morning. He sent in a message to the company over the qualcom explaining the shippers attitude and hostility towards him and they never responded. After speaking with his fleet manager he said he's not sure if they will even pay him detention for sitting the 17 hours waiting to load. These are the stories of Conway Truckload. To be continued. I really do love my job i just hate the ######## they put drivers through and the free labor. Its not right HERB
