My husband drives for Conway as an O/O and so far loves it here at Conway. Our Fleet manager is awesome, anytime we've had a problem he was very helpful. my husband averages around 2800-3200 miles a week. Everyone we've had to deal with at Joplin has been very friendly and nice. Since we've been here we've only sat 1 day waiting on a load. Also we had an issue where got to a shipper and no one was there. The appt. was schedule at 8pm when it should have been 8am (Shippers fault, new office person messed the time up, not Conway) We had to go back to the Truck stop and wait till morning, we actually had been there for over 24 hrs by the time we got it delivered, and yes Conway paid us detention pay, also had another issue where we got to a receiver out in the middle of no where and refused to take the load because it wasn't on pallets, appt was scheduled for 8am and didnt leave there till almost 4pm because no one knew what to do and the receiver told to wait and see if they could find someplace to store it, and yes we got detention pay there.
Another thing we have 2 dogs and NO WE DON"T SMELL LIKE OUR DOGS!!!! My dogs are very clean along with our truck. Just because people have animals in the trucks doesn't mean they smell like them. We have ours with us because after I got laid off from my job we stuck everything in storage and came out full time on the road and I was not going to get rid of my dogs because of that. You Mr ConLiedtoWay is what i like to call a "Super Trucker", thinks they know everything there and they're always right, well just because you have it bad here doesn't mean everyone else does.
Con-way Truckload Not what I thougth it would be. Stay off there payroll

2nd,,you do smell like your dogs, all you people that have animals in there trucks smell like them.(You are just oblivious to it),and no your perfume just makes you smell of a dogs butt(with perfume)
3rd,your a O/O,so again in the spirit on the original post you dont apply to the argument,as a O/O you always have the right to pick and choose your loads(I.E. you can refuse any one you want) so YES you are getting those miles,i dont doubt that,
Im no "SuperTrucker"(hell I dont even own a CB),im a realist,if you had to deal with what Company OTR had to deal with you opinion of the company would be a "shared-one"
I dont know how long you have been with "Big Blue"??? but I sit and wonder,3 years now, what happened to the 300+ O/O's that were with Conway Truckload at the time of the Buyout buy Conway? where are they now?,,oh yeah they quit almost every single one, they were very happy before the merger, not so much after the merger,,,Now why is that? -
No I havent drove for "Conway Truckload Division" for 10 years(none of us have) I drove for CFI for 7 years and have been a part of this Conway for 3=10 years, see alot of see it that way,,,they(Conway) like to say it llike you stated,,,but its apples&oranges from CFI
and yes i could go over to Freight(and if I wanted to commute 45 miles each way to do it I would, but i choose not too.
See if you had been here during the Buyout, and sat through the meetings and how this was "Suppose" to have gone down you might have a shared feeling also, alas you were not here, you have no idea as to how&why we ran while we were CFI(tho the talking heads in Joplin like to say its the same its not)
They promised us the world and came through with NADA,we actually used to haul more of Conways freight before the merger than we do now,HMMMMMMMM makes you wonder huh? IT SHOULD,but you go ahead and take another long sip of that "Blue-Koolaide" and keep smiling,,,cause before you know it,,,One day everything here is "Hunky-Doory" next day you share my opinion
I just wonder about you two? what kind of miles are you AVG? i hope 20,000-22,000 a month(thats what CFI ask you to maintain as a team)I seriously dont think you are
As for me( and quite a few other Million+milers) we can only manage to get 2500 tops a week,i have only cracked 11,000 a month once this year,i avg on the road 28-30 days amonth and take off only 4,,I doo my part,,the company doesnt do theirs
And if you want to know where i get my info, okay I will Drop a few names,Scott Black,John Jamison,Candy Bright,Charlie Sullins....
But hey YOUR leaving not me,so its my prob right, and I hope your not thinking of going over to TRI-State,,LOL yeah that a good move -
After reading all the posts on this subject i have to say most if not all have some merit, the young man who originally posted this thread I have to say has made comments I hear all to often here now.
Overall CWTL is a "good" company but as CFI it was a exceptional place to work,They back then seemed to be more "driver-orientated",hometime was a special issue that was not spared and or questioned. We live in a time where every single nickle and dime count now and it seems that the Corp worries more about saving money than making it(I know that sounds lame)
I myself after 15 years have really grown tired of the whole industry, but i motor on until ,,well until I find the job that gets me entirely off the road, and in this economic climate well that is a never ending quest
For the sake of the argument, the original thread was from a OTR solo viewpoint, you cant compare that to Teams and or O/O's(even if they are solo) just cant compare
Con-Liedto-way: dude just lighten up a lil,I know what you are saying,it is frustrating to see "what was",to now "what is",I just take it day by day and dont sweat it anymore, they wont change, you should know that after what 10 years here
Conwaygirl: Teams are treated differently(not better ,just different),Next time you are in Joplin, stop and look at the pics on the wall,I can remember(and not to long ago) that those walls were all covered, not just the back one.sign of the times i guess,The Company(CFI) put a premium on longevity, not so much now,and our standards drop dramatically, and thus our reputation out here suffered.FM's used to get a bonus on the miles you drove,Conway took that away,so now their is not a emphasis(from their standpoint) to get you miles(other than the set Index, set by the Corp) and I have herd the same about the 100 mile DH also(again we are talking about OTR solo)
Im well off of my regular pace of miles this year, and it has me worried,im getting by at around 2500 a week, but am sitting 4-6 days a month(and no layover and or detention) i just figure my time is worth more to me now than what it once was.
I share the same frustrations as a lot of people here, but i also know i have a Job,,,But I have made a resolution to make this my last year OTR,after 15 years well thats enough 4 me,i have everything paid off,house,2 cars, and a college degree for my Daughtercheburgie, Conwaygirl and mtnMoma Thank this. -
That was happening before Con-Way took over for CFI

I had a dispatcher tell me once, when I wanted to go home after being out 3 weeks "You picked your career path, and so did I, im home every night with mine, and your not" I tried the whole "your home every night in your bed" thing
That's about the time I list the chip on my shoulder cause as crappy as it sounded, it was the truth... -
mtnMoma Thanks this.

No it was at Schneider. I was just speaking in general how dispatchers treat drivers in regards to the OP
