Ok, so here's the deal I have a misdemeanor charge for obstructing justice/assaulting a police officer. Now with that out the way I can tell you my situation here.
I am currently in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the CRST training center. I have had the door shut in my face soo many times because of my charge. Now CRST was the first to approve me to come to school and give me a shot, so I jumped on the first thing smoking to Iowa because I thought everything was taken care of, but I find out that they have NOT done a background check and even if I do graduate CDL school they DO NOT have to hire me and can stick me with the bill for school so I have been a nervous reck since I been here.
Now, today I get a call from Con-Way stating that I have been approved with them and that I can go to school in my HOME state and be home everyday and the GREAT news about Con-Way they have already did a background check and everything came back good. I know they did a background check because I got a copy of it in the mail.
Now I am thinking should I pack up and head home to Con-Way or should I stick around CRST and see what happen? I have not started school yet this is only my second day here I have not even got my CDL Permitt yet so I have not even seen Kirkwood Community College so if I decided to leave the only thing CRST could bill me for is my bus ticket, lodging, drug test and physical ohh yeah and that $50 processing fee.
At this point I'm not sure what to do I have a ton of thinking to do by this weekend.

If you let CRST know about the misdeameanor than you will be fine. They just don't want to see any surprises and that is why they tell you aren't guaranteed a job until after orientation. That being said I would choose Con-way if you don't mind being stuck for the bill of your travel expenses
-
Yeah, FatDaddy I only owe CRST a couple hundred bucks about 3 or 4, but yeah I will chalk that up to be home everyday while training and to be with a better company.

go to con-way

I'm sure in hell considering it CenturyClass the only thing that's holding me back is that I need $2000 down payment because I will be going to U.S. Trucking school. Want to make sure I can get that money together before I bail.
CenturyClass don't Con-Way do a full background check "before" they approve people? -
I work for freight, but yes they run a full hireright background check, so if they call you you are good. but it doesnt hurt to call and double check.
the quality of people I see coming into our yards leave alot to be desired. And most of the loads are team loads. double yuck -
I don't mind the Team loads for a couple of months while I'm getting used to the road but yeah I am going to call them again and get more in depth info.
Thanks -
I'm thinking ConWay is a step or 2 above CRST.

I talked with Con-Way and they said as long as I graduate and pass my road test I have a job. I know I can pass a drug test and physical no problems at all there I just need this 2 grand now.
