It's good you can do a free refresher. Based on the information we regularly see on this forum many companies won't take you if it has been more than 60 - 90 days since you completed your training.
-
Go on the web site to see. I was told it will be 3 weeks out 150 hours out. Plus one of the things that made it better than Swift was the trainer is in the other seat not the bunk.

I believe USX is pretty lax about when you finished schooling.........

[FONT="]I work in Public Relations at U.S. Xpress and I saw your post. The veteran drivers on this board have made some very good observations and they have given you some sound advice. I wanted to let you know that we appreciate your interest in our company and I have some additional info that we hope will be helpful. You are correct in noting that we do have some dedicated contract accounts, like Family Dollar, that make it possible for our drivers to remain in Florida. We do have one of the largest team operations in the country, and the Florida drivers who we have put together in teams have made it even stronger. Our approach is to work with our drivers to put them in the best equipment and find the job that offers the best fit. From talking to your recruiter, Im sure that you heard that we have a comprehensive training program and we have a variety of different driving jobs available. If you would like to learn more about U.S. Xpress from our people on the road or in the office, I would invite you to check out our U.S. Xpress Drivers Facebook Page. You can ask questions directly to our drivers and management through this page. I would also encourage you to call your recruiter back and ask any questions that come to mind. We wish you the best and we are here to help as you look to get your driving career started.

OK, I have to give a couple examples here, as to what to watch out for. I won't come out and call them liars, but use your imagination.
My recruiter found out from me, that I preferred jumping the border, had experience, and a FAST card. Oh, we would love to have you, we'd put you doing Canada for us. Well, she suckered me in, along with the sign on bonus, I thought, SWEET!. 8 month's there, I may have gone to Canada 6 times. Being from the north, you guessed it, to sunny southeast stayed I.
Next was when I actually had a load going to New Brunswick, that I inherited from a kid that was afraid to cross the border, I don't know why. Anyway, I did NOT have the hours to deliver on time, and told them. It was to be delivered on Friday, but I couldn't get there until Saturday. Oh, I'll call the customer, and see if that's alright, said the back shift. Well, I didn't take into consideration it was 2130, 2230 in NB, and this was a carpet load going to a store. She called me back not 5 minutes later and told me the customer had no problem, fine said I. The next morning, Saturday, the weekend fleetmanager called me and asked why I gave the ETA I did. I told him, "John, she lied to you" he said. "She couldn't have called the store that time of night, the store closed at 1800". Well, he helped me out.
That's two lies, I can give a couple more, but that was the begining of the end for me. I didn't want to discourage you in any way, your mileage could very well differ, but I thought,,,,,,,,,,,
Good luck to you regardless of what you do, that was just part of my very poor mileage with USX.

Lesson here is to have everything sent over the qualcom. To cover your #####.

First my disclaimer that I have never worked in any capacity for U.S.Xpress. Since I am unsure if I may give you their website, you can google "US Xpress recent grads". I am sure that you can quickly identify their offical website just in case you are inclined.

Johnday's story confirms what I say in my standard advice. "They will let you talk about what you want and then tell you what you want to hear."
This is standard operating procedure for sales and recruiting staff. A good sales person is the world's best listener. A good salesperson talks enough to get you to voice what you want and what is important to you. He then sells you on the fact that his product, service or company will meet your needs.johnday Thanks this. -
You are 100%, absolutely, totally correct. I had been with a trustworthy O/O before those guys, and let my guard down, they never got a second chance like that.
