I know this is a stale question, any new information about cfi/conway. I'll take the good and the bad info their website does not talk about home time. I'm tired of being out 14-20 days just to get 2 days home. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful...TIA

That will be the story with just about any OTR company you work for. 1 day off for ever week out. 3 weeks out 3 days off. Some companies like Knight Refegerated will let you take a week or more. Long as they get there 10,000+ a month.

No gashauler Conway is the nonunion scab outfit that was used to destroy thousands of families at Consolidated Freightways that was a very good union job. It's been a race to the bottom ever since.

Gotta love these union guys. Maybe if the union worked with the company and met in the middle they would still have a job today. I know, the best thing that ever happen to this country was the union, absolutley right, 30 or 40 years ago.

I read a thread on conwaydrivers that mentioned that they are no longer hiring solo...only team. The thread seemed to be verified by Christine herself as of 4/13/09. You might want to call if you haven't already been scheduled for class or orientation.

So where am I wrong? CFI is different than CF I take it? Now that I think of it I used to see the red CFI trucks but I hardly paid any attention to other companies. I know that CF built Freightliner trucks and was a very good paying job. But they are referenced many times that they were put out of business by the union like other companies that run like they did. It's really a shame that the company and the union couldn't get together and keep going. I retired from a company that only had two terminals that were union and you could still work there even if you didn't want to join. There were 8 others that were non-union.

There were times that I would hear the district manager spout off and it sounded like a war game with the union and the company didn't want to move an inch. And I'm sure it was the same on the other side too. In that business with gasoline the union was hardly needed for alot of reasons. But I'm sure with freight it's different and please don't get me wrong I fully support the union. I believe the workers inside walmart are in desperate need of the union. And I'm sure there are more. But I don't believe a blanket approach is needed. I will say thank you to the union gjuys years ago that had to really go through hardships to make our work better today.

    Just updating my previous statement...

I spoke with Christine at Conway today and she verified that they are no longer hiring solo...only teams. They are going to make every effort to follow through with any prior commitments to people already scheduled for training or orientation.

From what I've read and heard from Conway recruits 2-3 weeks out is pretty standard.
