    Now I actually agree with that for the most part;

But 2010 was the start of CSA 2010 standards as well...

Stay on track now, don't lose your focus. Remember, there's lies, #### lies & statistics involved in almost every debate, used for or against whatever side of the debate someone is on.

Are the current HOS as they are structured INFLEXIBLE, yes or no?

Are there common sense additions or retractions that can be made to the current HOS which not only make sense, but could go a long way in helping the average driver out, yes or no?

@Scooter Jones I can answer that...

I have a stats background, and yes, stats are usually used to tell a "story" - which tend to lean towards the intended conclusion.

The current HOS are, indeed, inflexible...BUT....that does not exonerate the abusive shippers/receivers.

Having a digital record of duty, will help make the case of that abuse - that's why I'm on the side of elogs, even though right now, I'm exempt.

Simply accepting the status quo ("it's just trucking") will not suffice, IMO

Also, When I get a RC, I strike out all sections pertaining to delivery time. I overwrite that section with "Depending on Traffic Conditions/Weather/Legal regulations". I have yet to run into a broker that cancels the load on me.

I run legal with an ELD, but some days I put in 16 hours +. The freight has to go. Call it cheating, I call it doing my job. And I don't lose any sleep over it either.

Yeah, I get all the points about not exonerating those abusive shippers/receivers. However, the discussion surrounds Babin's request of Chao to revisit the inflexibility of the current HOS. Which I hope gains traction, don't you?

Think about it, without a 14 hour rule the 10 hour break is obsolete.
    Then what do you got?
Do you allow 11 hours of driving in a 24 hour period? Every driver would be cat napping and getting no real sleep.

If they give you a 16 hour day then you’d want 18 because 16 is too little of a work day.

Maybe the 70 could be raised to 77 hours.

I have mixed opinions on that 30 minute break.

But the 11 and 14 and 10 hour break are all great. I can’t think of anything better.

You can keep the 10 hour sleeper rule. If I have to work 16 hours to do my job due to unforeseen circumstances, which are now frequent no thanks to the ELD, what is the big deal? So what, I go park and take 10. But you are shoe horning all of us into your little box, not every driver out here runs dedicated or drop and hook or in the same industry.

Yeah hopefully! She didn’t seem to interested, but she didn’t completely disregard it either... or did she “politely”?...
