A receipt for money has no relevance to the spectral purity or receiver performance of the rig. It would prove nothing.

My point a number of posts back is that the value of what one receives with an expensive 10-Meter Export Radio is that it hits the price level where genuine quality exists (albeit used) with Amateur Equipment.
I showed one example.
“Maybe” an Export can be suitably modified. Great. Where is it and how much?
Then we can run thru the other points of unit comparison.
I’d say it’s reasonable that the lower end of quality in a modern AM/SSB Radio is well-represented by a UNIDEN 980 at $125.
Spending less than this brings unnecessary compromise or deletion. (Who can’t come up with $125, is the other part?)
I’ve advocated for the WEST MOUNTAIN RADIO CLEARSPEAKER at an additional $200, and the 75W RM ITALY KL203 amp at $75.
$400 plus change. No tech-y trickery (lets leave that out for any discussion).
A 10-Meter would have to beat this combo. Without some DSP filtration, it won’t.
Pretty soon we’re at $500-$600. More.
But does that rig outperform the quality radios?
That I most sincerely doubt.
So, get what you will. But pay attention to what you’re (not) getting. -
Just worked Dollar Bill 154 in New Mexico on this Connex 4600 on channel 28.
