    Hello everyone.

I have been an OTR Flatbed driver for almost 2 years and just recently, in June 2015 came local to drive. But I am not happy, I do not necessarily want to go back with a company as a company driver but have really been thinking about doing owner op flatbed. I have heard a lot about Landstar and they really sound like a good company. Can you tell me if Landstar is a good company for one, good for flatbedding? and finally can you please help me understand all the costs I would have to keep up with as an owner op with Landstar and approximately what I would bring in?? When I tried talking to a couple of Landstar drivers they said I could make between 2.75 and 4.50 a mile as a flatbed driver. Is this plausible and what kind of miles could I look at. I am used to running 2600 to 3000 miles a week with my last couple of companies, so I know I can do it.

I don't think you would run the same miles as a flatbed operator. You would drive less a day and spend time on securement instead. Not a terrible trade off.
