I'm thinking about making a move this fall and going back pulling my flatbed trailer.
I have a friend that was leased to them 7 years ago and speaks very highly of them but there isn't much current info on the boards about this company.
Is there anyone on here currently leased to Bennett that could tell me how things are over there these days? Thanks in advance.

I spoke to one of their recruiters today and everything was sounding good up until he told me that I HAD TO purchase a Qualcomm from them for $2500.00 which would be deducted over time from my settlements. When I asked him if they were planning to go to Electronic Logs in the near future he said I would have to ask the safety department about that during orientation.
I don't think I'll make it that far.

My dad pulls for Bennett, he loves it. No complaints at all. Yeah he had to get the qualcom installed and they charge him 30 a month for it, however, he pulls for Boeing and I believe they pay him like 30 a load just for having it, so he puts money in his pocket for having the qualcom.

I was checking out schneider finance earlier and they sell quallcom units for $250.00, might wanna check that out. Bennett probably buys from them and ups the price:biggrin_25525:. Remember we, the driver, are always getting the short end of the stick.

Actually the $2500.00 price tag is about right for a brand new unit such as the MCP100 I'm now using that is capable of electronic logging.
I've just never heard of a company that made it mandatory for the truck owner to purchase the unit. Some charge rent or just the data fee like you would for usage of a cell phone. When I was with Landstar they were available for purchase but optional and there were certain loads you couldn't haul without them.
My present carrier provides all of it for free. The $250.00 units you talk about from Schneider are probably their older outdated units and wouldn't be compatible with another company's system. There are many different models and they are individually tailored to each company's needs.
If they were at least going to pay half of the price I may consider it but they are going to benefit far more from it's use than i am.
My guess is they are planning on going to electronic logs like my present carrier and are making all new hires do this to save money in the end. Until they are required by law I will not voluntarily run one. I've been using one for over a year and hate it. Not because I run that hard or intend to blatantly break the law either.
It's just one more freedom they are trying to take away from us and the freedom in trucking is the reason most of us old timers got into this business. Having said that I don't imagine the young guys even care about being tracked, they broadcast their every move on Twitter and Facebook already.

I saw a company that made you purchase one for $2,500 if you leased to them too. I can't remember who it was.

I figured Schneider's price was a security deposit not a purchase.
