Yes that's gross but out of those 5k gotta take fuel and tolls and it's running the north east so those 5k turn into 3k ,for example my check last week was about 2200 with detention and everything included I ran 673 miles, I spent 300 on fuel, and another almost 370 dollars on tolls, I was home daily worked no more than 8 hours a day I usually just put 400 or less diesel on route 1 in nj is about 2.49 to 2.63 a gallon, running local there's a lot of detention so that makes a lot of profit (made 360 today sitting at Costco in Dayton,nj). Running intermodal you shouldn't accept no less than 1.50 per mile if long distance.

    PO Stoner Thanks this.

.70 cpm. Net $7000 per month. The numbers I pasted in make more sense on a spread sheet. All the expenses are accounted for. $7300 per month in expenses subtracted from $12000 and $2300 FSC (maybe best case scenario). Holding back $500 per month for repairs. I plan on starting with $5k in my maintenance fund. I'm working on selling my motorcycle. I have the taxes covered too. A Missouri plate is $600, HVUT is about the same and the personal property tax on my truck will be around $1500 a year. IFTA is nothing at $25 a quarter. I got my truck insurance quote from OOIDA and it's less than $300 per month. Am I missing something? Income taxes and benefits are subtracted from my net pay like they are from my company pay check. Hence $1k a week to me in the end.

So $3k minus about $1200 for fuel plus $575 FSC minus $600 in taxes, truck payment, plates = Around $1775k per week in my pocket that I will then deduct income taxes and benefits from. Sounds good to me. No tolls here to speak of. It's only $25 round trip from KC to Wichita and back and that's it. I agree with the $1.50 per mile gross. For example, If I have to go to Des Moines and back (450ish miles round trip), there better be a loaded return or it needs to pay $3.00 per mile for loaded one way if a dead head back or it's not worth going. Do you get FSC and are you including that as part of your gross?

My Des Moine example is confusing. It should pay at least $675 if it has a dead head return. That makes more sense.

I would be ok with 650 if is a drop and hook, if is a live unload I would charge 700

Roughly $40 per hour after all expenses on the high side and fuel. 8 hour day to this run and that's moving slow. Like it!! :D

Redirect..back to one of the original question. Anybody have any information and pay details on Triple Crown, Reload/Pinnacle, Container Port or Hub Group??? Especially If you're in KC...I'm looking for a company to sign with that I can make a consistent $3500+(including FSC) per week in 50-60 hours. One of the reasons I like Reload is they pay by percentage + FSC. They also use paper logs and don't care how fast your truck is. I think mileage pay tends to benefit the company more than the driver and I'm NOT going to do 65mph all day. The only way to endure crossing Kansas is at 75mph. All 4 companies offer medical plans.

I have hauled containers in New Jersey, where all the descriptions of crappy chassis don't begin to do them justice, and I have hauled 53' rail containers in Chicago. The 53' chassis are no comparison. Most, if not all NS chassis have tubeless, and in the last 2 years it seems that they replaced 1/2 their old chassis with new ones that have led lights, etc. BNSF chassis were also new, and they had the glad hands offset to the left, like dryvans. Pacer chassis ran maypop tires. The 20 and 40 foot were still junk, like I saw in NJ. Most times I could do a double move in about 1/2 hour, but if you have to go to roadability, you could be there for hours. They mount the tires instead of putting on premounted maypops.
Still, you can make decent money, and not be far from home.

    PO Stoner,

have you signed up with any of those companies yet?

I am out of KC too, after 5 years OTR, looking for something regional/local. Waiting for a call from Reload right now.

My buddies in Chicago make decent living hauling containers but KC is way smaller so I don't really know..

I've eliminated Hub Group. A driver told me they pay $1.08 per mile (plus FSC I'm guessing) and I don't like the idea of competing with company trucks. I can't do a job change until I get my house sold and get moved into the next one (hopefully within the next month). I'm still leaning towards Reload and Containerport. If you find out anything about KCI, I would like to know. I see those guys everywhere. I rarely see Reload, dba Pinnacle. Not seeing them around makes me wonder if they have enough freight. Car Haulin pays well if you can handle the physical part (which is why I'm looking to get out). Jack Cooper is hiring. Easily an $80-100K gig once you get good at it. I'm makin $72k (might hit $75k this year) plus full benefits working 50 hours a week, home every night and 3-day weekends if I want and I'm non-union. Wish I could keep doing what I'm doing. Please pass on anything you find out. I have to make $3000 plus FSC per week minimum to match what I make now and buy benefits. Of course, more would be even better if the freight is there.
