I intend to contact a recruiter, but I also would like to ask this question directly to current or former Prime drivers. I read in another thread that Prime will not hire you if you have a gap in employment history. I have been unemployed the past two years because I had to take care of my elderly 89 yr old mother. There are numerous people that could verify this fact, but I was not paid to do it, since my mother provided room and board in return for my taking care of many of her day to day needs. She just passed away a little over a month ago, so I must go back to work, and I want to do what I have always wanted to do and drive a truck OTR. Is it possible that Prime addresses these types of situations case by case, or is there just a blanket refusal to hire if there is a gap? I quit a job on good terms two years ago to take care of her after being employed for nine straight years, and I have only had four jobs total since 1983, all of them left on good terms. I also have a clean driving record and no criminal background and don't do drugs, so if they refuse to hire me, I feel they are missing an opportunity to hire a quality employee. I am just wondering if any of you Prime drivers faced an employment history gap when hiring on and got hired? Thanks.

You would have to talk to a recruiter. I had a gap in employment and they had me get a notarized letter from 2 people to verify I was unemployed. I think it has to do with having to verify your last 10 years work history because it's required by dot. And I guess any employer would prefer a steady work history. Good luck.

It's case by case. I'd think you have a good chance to be hired on, but they most likely will want a letter from somebody familiar with your situation to confirm it. The only way to know for sure is to contact recruiting, and see what they say.

My husband has about 2 periods of 6 months unemployment in 5 years. All that was required from him was 2 references that knew his situation to verify. And Prime accepted him. He is in his PSD phase of training now. But like the folks above me said, it really is best to talk with a recruiter. I would go ahead and apply though.
