I am considering tmc after finishing up training on the 29th of jan.
i had been reading the different notes on here and was wondering if they still had the loads avaliable. i would be doing otr, if still an option. the recruiter was in friday and assuerd us they had plenty of freight. i am also looking at maverick. i live in st. louis area on the illinois side and would probably go to training in iowa. i have not had a ticket in 29 years, no criminal record ever, and no accidents since 1978. recruiter said they would love to have me. i also have a very solid work history. i just retired from firefighting after 30 years, and had 2 partime/ seasonal jobs at gateway raceway [since 1998] and chicagoland speedway[since 2000] as fire/rescue also. these are the only jobs i have had besides my own cleaning company. anyway....thanks for any info, and i soon hope to be out there with all of you. also how hard is the physical? we did alot of physical things in the fire service, but i am not 20 any more either..[i am 48]
thanks again,

I expect that if you can handle a coil of fire hose you can handle a tarp. The St Louis area is great for freight. Overall TMC has been slow through the holidays and are just starting to see things pick up. In your case you will be just getting into your own truck at the end of March and that is when the home improvement chains start moving in lots of spring merchandise. Even if you don't haul any of that type stuff it boosts the load availability company wide. That should be perfect timing. Chase that recruiter before he changes his mind.
In the future keep in mind that TMC has a couple of dedicated operations in that STL area that will keep you home more and still earn good money.LawDawg Thanks this. -
Maverick has been frozen since November. Have you heard anything recently?

I talked to Maverick 2 weeks ago and the woman on I spoke with said they were on a hiring freeze until after new years. Realizing that was only two days away I asked if she had any kind of time frame, like one week, two weeks and month. She said she could not give a time frame, so my guess is Maverick is still on a freeze.
