You will be limited on the amount of driving you do.
You will have to log your current job hours as on duty.Keepleft Thanks this. -

Is your $1000 weekly, before taxes or "take home"?
You can "take home" over a thousand a week in trucking with some companies.
I can't give advice on the oil field job. Personally, it's not for me because I can't see myself being stuck in the desert with a bunch of men. But, this isn't about me.

Most tanker companies you can "take home" a thousand or more a week and have a full benefits package.
There's several that hire new cdl grads and some hire only from certain cdl schools. You'd have to contact them and ask if they hire from the school you are considering. Hair follicle drug test for tankers.
Schneider Bulk - hires from any 160 hr. cdl school.Last edited: Mar 28, 2018

How many hours do you think I would have to work to make $1000 a week driving for tanker companies? Are there OTR? -
You can do better in a truck. Whether you can do so locally is highly dependent upon the local job market.
Working OTR you can do better, but your first year might be rough, especially if you go with a training company.Keepleft Thanks this.
