Noticed a lot of contract questions on the threads, looked to see if I could find anything for my Q but i couldn't. I appologize if this has been asked before.
I'm currently in a contract with a major carrier and I have been since mid may of last year. I worked for them for about three or four months before getting off the truck to come home and take care of some personal business. My child support situation has basically consumed my life up until very recently, and I've attempted to go back to work for said company a couple of times this past year but ended up having to flake on the orientation. I requested a copy of my DAC report a couple of months ago and nothing negative shows up on it.
I'm now, again, thinking about going back. I won't pretend to be a super trucker or anything like that. I know the business isn't probably going to be for me in the long run but I don't have 4 grand to pay off my contract so I NEED to get back.
The problem? I had to flake a few times as I said so now I'm ineligable for rehire. As I said my DAP is clean and my driving record is as well. Also, each time I schedualed orientation and didn't show I kept in contact with my recruiter and explained why.
My question is; Can they really DQ me simply for not showing to an orienation? Should i request a review by somebody higher up?? And if so, don't they have to allow me to make payments to pay down my contract? Also, if I did start making payments, would that free up my DOT records and make me eligible for hire with another company?? Or would I have to wait until the entire amount was paid down.

Considering you bailed for "personal business" then was a no-show twice for re-hire, I can understand the DQ scenario. But, that's just for that company. However, the contract aspect comes into play now. Truck companies do trade info between them. On paper, looks like you are undecided, not what companies are looking for.

As I see it , you have nothing to lose be trying to see if you can get in front of someone a little hire up the food chain.
