Been noticing my miles were dropping over the past 2 months, been more than a few drivers noticing it also. Xpo only does independent operators at least that's what they told me when I out in an application at the xpo Web site....

If your miles have been down, it's because of freight, not XPO. Are you implying that XPO is going to make all the Con-Way drivers contractors? Almost every article I've read has mentioned that XPO is going from an asset light company(trucks owned by contractors) to an asset heavy company(trucks owned by the company).

No one really knows whats up, but I highly doubt XPO is going to make the drivers and staff and such contractors. I think everything will roughly be the same as it is now but maybe more strict on damages, overtime, and running trailers empty as much as we do now. They're obviously going to cut some fat and who knows maybe even close a few service centers that are so close to one another. Con-way has a ton of LTL terminals that are within 100-200 miles of one another.

Went to a wedding this past weekend and starting talking with a guy from out of town, I'd never met him before. Seemed genuine enough, he works in logistics and we started discussing XPO/Con Way. He indicated that XPO wanted to sell the LTL part of Con Way to UPS. Anyone else hear that? I have no way of substantiating his claim, not sure if it was BS or not.
Shaggy Thanks this. -

I've heard that from like 3 people......but then again I've heard that they plan to "cut line haul", "cut the pay", fire the drivers", "stop doing next day freight", "possibly have the cure to cancer (yet refuse to share it
)"
Shaggy and Pintlehook Thank this. -

Yesterday, I was able to hold one of the new handhelds and look at the different holsters they will offer. According to the terminal manager, the handhelds will roll out on schedule.

Are the handhelds basically the same? Still Motorola but shorter and a bit thinner without an antenna sticking out?
When are they suppose to come out exactly? I know October but no specific period.
Does it have different software on it or the same? -

I have seen a prototype...they basically look like an industrial strength smart phone not sure how they will work but I think the interface is similar to Android with apps and a barcode scanner. I was told they will process much faster...there will always be a learning curve when they roll out though.
On a side note, I have heard solid information from management that one of the changes with XPO will be Con-ways current live tech support. If any of you have dealt with this I'm sure you would agree it leaves much room for improvement... -

Our DOO (I'm in the Cleveland Region) was at our barn this morning and he said the XAQ is one of the pilot locations for the new handhelds and they are starting there in November 2105......in short they should be rolling out 01/2016.

I like to call "India" when we have to talk to the help desk......(sic)............ I'm so confident in "Steve" or "Bob" on the other end of the phone.....If they bring the I/T home it will be much welcomed.
