On the obstacle course, if you're new to the game I suggest really focusing on the method for that jug handle right turn (you're going to need that more than just about anything else you do on the course IMO).
I also suggest for those of you (like myself) who are not used to snow (it's white stuff from the sky in wintertime) that you get the training department/safety to show you how to throw iron. It's a better idea to learn now in the summer, than do it for the first time when it's required and you have no choice (like I did this last winter).

Rooster, been reading your postings...wondering if you are done and how you did on that Obstacle course? Was it hard, and how did the rest of your class do? Thinking of working for Conway. Work in trucking, just not a driver.

. It took me a while to get the pet dander out of my truck when I first got it but if you keep up with it should be no problem.

Hope you are well vmaggs. I am getting better according to the docs. Home again for treatment but should be back out again on Tuesday. Can't take a student right now because I have to be home every 28 days for treatment. August should be breaking in baby truckers again. Looking forward.
Be safe driver.

Sorry for the delay. Day 6 started out normaly. When we got to crowder we picked up where we left off on the obstacle course. I dont know if you guys read replies to their comments but Ill give the shortened version. The obstacle course is a test, but dont think of it that way. Its more for fun. All you need is a 40 to pass and all you have to do is not hit anything and you will be fine. Just pay attention to the instructor and your mirrors. Its in low gear and the instructor walks the course with you. Just have fun with it. After the obstacle course we took the trucks down the road to give them a wash and a cleanout inside. It wasnt a big deal really. Look at it this way. We were using the trucks all week. They are there for Conway students. cleaning them out is the least we can do. They are nice trucks and Im sure they want them to stay that way. Its a respect thing too. So to the next class, enjoy. After we did that we had lunch and went back to the hotel. We all met for dinner (except 1) but that was to be expected. We ate at "Daddy Jims." This place is right around the corner from the hotel and looks a little shady but let me tell you what.....The food is fantastic! save it for the last day you wont be disappointed....at least I hope you wont be. Sunday is an off day. I slept in and then took another 3 hr nap after laundry was done. There isn't much you can do. Tomorrow the Conway bus picks us up at 5am and we have to pick up the rooks from the holiday in, in Joplin then we head towards the terminal. I think we have Monday and Tuesday there, and after that we just wait for our trainer. They are saying now that we wont hook up with a trainer, probably until the end of the week. To me this isn't a big deal. I get time to relax and take it easy for a while and Conway pays you to wait anyway. They also reduced the mileage you have to do with your trainer (Went from 10k to 7500) because they don't have enough trainers. Although, I would like the 10k training I am sure I'll be fine with the 7500 and the sooner I will be able to get home and see my family again. So that's where we are at. Ill update tomorrow.

Rooster, you will be at the terminal both Monday and Tuesday. There's still stuff you have to learn and videos to watch. Orientation kit to get, picture for your badge to take (if you haven't already.) If there's enough time you'll get a tour of the terminal itself. They have some nice amenities for the drivers and wait till you see the 3rd floor. (if I'm remembering the right number). Also you'll have to learn about the Smith System and do the drive for that. Your lunch will be covered all week. (except on the weekend. Cafeteria is closed then.) I recommend dinner at Cheddar's (it's a short walk through the Residence Inn's parking lot). Also there's a shuttle that will take you around a set course, great way to get to the terminal. (I'd also recommend doing your laundry there instead of here at the hotel. There's only 3 washers & dryers and currently 1 dryer is out of order.)
