Its all well and good for everybody to say shut down, but this is a prime example of things changing and now your put in a unsafe position, all for the company saving a few bucks.
When they talk safety, these tag axles is a prime example of dollars over riding drivers safety.
They want tag axles, they should at least put automatic chains on every tag axle truck.
Look around Joplin terminal in the winter, Funny the amount of 4x4's will see.
So for personal vehicles, they'll by 4wd. Yet for the lowley truck driver... -
Seriously laughing my arse off. My FM called me as I was pulling into the dock, apparently I'm 118 miles out ( I parked 63 out). That meant at the time of call I was 20 minutes behind schedule not factoring in a couple of grades I had to climb or traffic. By the way I am in dock an hour and a half before my scheduled arrival time lmao.

Mustang, Now that I think about it there is always a large amount of four-wheel vehicles parked at Joplin. Don't get me wrong I actually like super singles but not in the winter. I just thank the Lord I had assistance getting the last half mile to the top. Couldn't get to the side cause it was on curves. I had supersingles on my 387 Pete from my last job and I never had iissues going up and down mountains. Went up fancy gap in Va many times in snow storms with no chains. Never once worried about not getting up the hills.

Tie that in without the ability of locking in the other axle, that's where problems arise.
Crawl a hill without chains, and look at who spins out first, typically single axle freight haulers, same thing with a tag axle truck.
I just like the extra feeling of security of being able to have four wheels looking for traction.
Hell, look at the tow calls for tag axle trucks on dry land, rutted parking lots, train tracks, higher than normal curbs, muddy conditions, icy or snow covered loading docks.
All of them have presented problems for a tag axle truck. -
Mustang, WELL SAID!!! I'M about to depart trk stop and head on to LA, Ca.

Well was suppose to go home till new dispatcher (best yet I might add) needed favor. So now doing break 100 miles from home and pulling a load to Hazleton drop yard that will continue on to Plainfield Indiana, then who knows had a PP back but it canceled. Anyone on here w8ing for the load Joplin has me there for 0730 but if you're coming to get it it will be closer to 06:15 depending on fueling/breakfast at the Pilot in Milford, CT.... So close to southern NH yet sooo far away. Best is I was suppose to see my new place (just moved) for the first time.
Stream w/ fish in back yard, small garden for my fresh herbs, outdoor bread oven (wat trucker doesn't have that), and patio. Oh well I just cleaned the KW so it's almost as nice right...right guys, it's close. Night all see whoever in the AM and if your on the east coast watch out for the fog it's been brutal
