They have got us doing one of the weirdest things I have had to do yet with Con-way right now.
We dropped a load in the Calexico yard yesterday afternoon. I chose not to board so I could go do some laundry and called up dispatch who said that was fine.
A little bit later (when one load was still washing and the other was on its first, of 2, dry cycle) they sent a planned load summary over. It said planned DH from Calexico 122 miles to San Diego. I thought this meant they would be giving us something picking up in San Diego like this morning or something, boy was I wrong!
About 10 minutes after the planned load message they sent a message saying that they needed us to recover a truck and to call dispatch for more information.
As it turns out, my co-driver is going to be driving to a truck shop in San Diego where I will be getting off our truck and onto truck 23186 which just had it's transmission rebuilt. Then we will both be going down to the Otay Mesa yard to pick up 2 loads (one on each truck) and driving the 2 trucks and loads 355 miles up to phoenix where we will drop the truck and both loads at the con-way freight there.
Then I have to BT out truck back to Calexico to pick up another load that we are relaying in Joplin.
Somehow in this mess my co-driver has to get back on his schedule too.
Totally weird situation! -

I pray that everyone is ok after the tornadoes in Texas. I had just left the Lancaster yard that morning. I just had an airbag replaced Sunday morning at the KW dealer that sets right beside scneider yard.

That truck rescue sucked....
Truck was trashed! You couldn't even see the floor in the sleeper through all the trash and there was a huge jug of urine. Whole truck smelled like urine too.
What's even worse is apparently the guy still works here. I had sent a msg from that truck telling dispatch how bad a condition it was in (and also called it in to road service) and this morning my fleet managaer let me know that he had forwarded my msg to that guys fleet manager because he still worked here and was on a new truck.
Very glad that ordeal is over with, by far the worst experience I have had since starting in this industry.
We are headed up to Joplin now with the load we are supposed to relay there (final is in NJ on 3/9). -
So anybody listen to that message?? and how it conveniently ended where it started talking about them hiring some company with drug sniffing dogs? All I can say is wow!!
