Increased truck speed does not decrease MPG. What decreases MPG is these idiots who can't keep the left door shut, and the companies neutering the trucks. Why do you think O/O who care about the bottom line don't mind running the speed limit, it's because they're trucks aren't jacked up.

I think if your trk is going 75-80 ur not going to get the same mpg than at 65 mph....personally I like it at 68-70....I'm good with that and keeping my door's shut

Paul, you really should talk to some of these O/O who take care of their rigs. Average operating speed over 70mph, and still seeing fuel economy over 8mpg. Meanwhile we run below 65 just to maintain the company 6.25+. These engines are made to pull, and pull hard, when you go changing the way the engine is programmed, it doesn't just affect speed, but also power and economy.

The better option is to leave the engines unaltered, and from there offer incentives for the drivers to take care of economy on their own. For example instead of threatening drivers who are below the 6.25, give bonuses to the guys above 7.

things about the speeds on the trucks being low.. it makes these trucks work a lot harder then what a 70mph truck would. its not even so much the fuel why we are at 65 its cuz on Con-way is a training company now. Insurance is alot cheaper at 65 then a 70mph truck. a truck running at 70mph will get about the same if not better mpg Due to fact that cuz going up a hill your droping ur speed at a 65mph truck unlike these 70mph + they save more fuel on these hills. they turn ur HP down in these trucks. These trucks are set by the Maker to get good MPG at Ungov Speeds. Con-way set em to 65 which means they adjusted the HP of the truck which mess with alot of things on truck. BUT the faster your truck goes more Wear and Tear on the truck too. I've done my Research into this stuff a lot.

Still sitting in Ft collins at bud its very hot here. no wind blowing having to idle to stay cool....

Conway is self insured, so that isn't an issue. The problem is over educated idiots who think their paper calculations work in the real world.

The Doctor Hook concert went really well. Sorry, I didn't get a T-shirt, but I do have pictures to prove it. On a serious note, the wifey had a doctor appointment. Both. the mother and the fetus are doing really well. Thank God for that. The wifey went to see her OB/GYN, and the pregnancy is going really well. Yes, with our second child, and yes it is going to be a girl as well. The doctor listened to the heartbeat of the fetus, and it is really strong. Really excited as well to hear that news. After this one is born, we are stopping. Have 2 sons from a previous marriage, and we will have 2 daughters. Just like I told my wife, it does not matter to me what the sex is of the baby, just as long as it is healthy, because that's what counts.
