Sitting in Joplin got here yesterday my load del sun morn at 0700 customer is an hour away. Then coming back to Joplin and taking a couple weeks off. I want to really think about if I want to continue driving. In the 15 months I'vbeen here I've never been late or had an accident yet I sit way more than I want. Just the latest example . I got to nd Sun my load del 10 miles from where I parked. Load didn't del till Tue 12 noon got there at 10 and of course customer said your appt is at 12 so they finally start off loading me at 12:20. My next load didst p/u till wed at 1230. So from sun to wed no paid miles. Then I have to take trk to kw to vet fixed lost a day there but the got me fixed Fri morning at 0900 then after calling and asking where's my load they send me one that p/u sat at 1600 thankfully they are closed on the weekends so I knew load would be ready. Here's my thing. If a driver had to be away from the family the company should utilize the drivers time wisely. Not just sitting. So I'm debating on going back to Afghanistan. When I'm over thee I come home every 90 days and I stay home for 17 days. Driving for Conway I stay out 3 weeks go home for 3-4 days. So my wife finally told me that I was home more when I was over seas and the sweet thing is got paid 4 times more than I make driving. Oh over there we have phones so my wife can call me or I call her anytime free.
Just my 2 cents. I love driving and I absolutely hate sitting.. Have a safe weekend

I was a logistics manager. (SSA). THE exact same thing I did for 20 years in the Army.

Are they still looking for drivers over there and is it worth the $$$?

Drivers for halliburton need 3 years experience. And they make about 120,000 tax free a year.

With all of the anti-American BS going on in the Muslim world, I couldn't even consider working there unless you don't look 'American'. That'd be one hell of a dangerous job this day and age. I 100% support our troops, but they don't have a choice. Speaking of, I thank any former military members for your service.

Sitting in San Antonio, got to Laredo last night and had a short run available if I wanted it so I went ahead and took it.

I am right there with you YardDart!! I dont know what is going on anymore in Joplin. You know how the people are working at the Mcdonalds? Well that is how I compare the caliber of people working in Joplin anymore. Sure they are nice to ya, when they are serving you up that stuff that will kill ya...But as soon as you open the bag you see that they screwed everything up. I understand when things get slow, but I would rather just know that I have a load picking up tomorrow then to sit on the board all day today and not know what is going on, then all of a sudden I get woke up and have to haul butt to go pick up a load that I could have known about and been staged to pick up. The other day, I made a delivery in Yuma AZ right next to the Love's at 8 in the morning. So I get on the board sit around all day until late afternoon. I have 2 hours left on my 14 and they send me to Phoenix to swap empty trailers(?) at CWF. Dispatch me to be there at 0300. I call to find out whats going on....of course its 5 minutes after my FM goes home. Nobody knows!! So whatever I go, I get there at 2200. PLENTY OF TRAILERS ON THE YARD.. Drop my trailer, bobtail over to the parking area and wait, and wait.....and wait some more. Finally I go back to bed. Next day around noon, I get a load..pick up in Blythe CA coming back to Phoenix for the following day(for those who cant keep up...I just jeft the CA border with an empty trailer). I understand they got me moving, but I was just limping around for a couple of days for no reason at all....at the time I could have used a reset, it would have been more efficient. I picked up another load a couple of days ago in El Paso, around 2100 and I had to call to get the load info, then after I put in the relay made call, I never got dispatched. I finally called my FM the next day around 1000 and had him dispatch me. Its like at certain times(mainly at night) the whole dispatch is sitting around playing video games like world of warcraft or something...LOL.
