You're making a BIG mistake, Newbie. Tell you what; how about starting your own thread about working for Conway. Maybe you can keep us all posted on a regular basis about how good it is to work there. After, oh, say about a year or so, it will be interesting to see the radical changes in attitude, going from,"Wow! So stoked to be here"!, to "Man, I just got another lousy week of miles and another $350.00 paycheck, and I've gotta spend half that for a motel room in Stump Creek, PA."!

Paul; Any way you can post your check stubs (sans SS# and other personal info, of course) from the last several weeks or so? Thanks!

hey surfer we all cannot help that you was to lazy to work dont you know most of the time the way you work the reflects the the amount of work that they give you. Its not hard to figure that out, and by the way the amount of posts you have put on this site makes me believe you either couldnt handle the job, had a major accident and was let go, or you was late all the time due to the fact you sound like someone who acts like the world should be handed to you i know your type i see drivers like you all the time turning down loads because it was under a thousand mile run. And by the way i dont get hotel rooms out on the road unless im broke down, maybe thats why your checks where so lousy taking out 200 to 300 hundred dollars a week in advances and buying a room every weekend during a reset( it adds up). Probably the type always eating at a buffet three times a day. Im not like that i have a cooler and buy supplies to last me all week and usualy under 50 bucks a week. Im not stupid surfer i know your type.

and another thing surfer i worked for crete carrier for 3 years and know what the dry van business is like and yes there maybe times where you might have a bad week on miles and i understand that but i dont look at my income from week to week i look at it from quarter to quarter. Thats the way the business is and if you can deal with it so be it if not too bad. Thats why its called a saving account when you get the good weeks put some of that money back and when it comes to around the holidays your not standing there with a 400 to 500 dollar take home check going gosh dangit how am i going to cover this bill for the month its called USE YOUR MONEY WISELY and i have seen it before drivers go out and blow all their money on stuff they dont need its called LIVE WITHIN YOUR OWN NEEDS.

Friday - Run from Laredo to Houston with a preplan to head to Mt. Vernon to pick up a load. Get about 40 Miles north of Houston and get told to turn around for a "hot load". I get back in time to get stuck in traffic on the 610 and go make the first pickup (2 on the load). I sit for an hour after appt time (despite arriving on time) before they begin loading. Following loading I head to the 2nd pickup where I sit for 4 hours following the actual appt time. At a little after 6pm with 18 minutes left on my 14 (and electronic logs in the truck) they get me loaded, and I have to run 12 miles to deliver the load for a relay at our LHO in central Houston.

Saturday - Go to Mt. Vernon to pick up load, goes pretty smoothly other than 3 of the 4 trailer tires being flat (takes a while to air them up from 30psi using the trucks emergency air line).

Sunday - Delivery to Lowes is supposed to be live unload (knew this was wrong before I even got there). On arrival they have none of our trailers at this particular store, but there is a TLI trailer dropped in the door they use for unloading 53' trailers. They call corporate and are told to have me drop mine and take the other trailer (LMAO I don't think so). Conway says to pull the trailer (this is standard practice btw) and place it along the fenceline and to put ours in dock, but not to leave until it is unloaded since we don't bobtail from their stores. It's at this time as I am getting under the TLI trailer and about to adjust the tandems on it I find it has a "southern engineered" airline that the tape has come loose on. At this point I sit for 4 hours waiting for Conway, TLI, and Lowes to get on the same page. I am told to drop our trailer in next door, leave the TLI trailer where it is, and bobtail to San Antonio for a trailer at our freight yard (where we have no trailers)

Monday - bobtail to Sequin for a TSC feed load, turns out one of our drivers took the trailer I was supposed to get and went 240+ miles to the wrong store with it. When I arrive I am told to take the correct trailer to store this previous genius went to. After hooking to it, using some hot water and soap to get the slide to work for tandems, and airing up tires (I am about ready to start calling road service I am so sick of doing it) I am told to drop the trailer I am going to be bobtailing to Waco since previous knuckle head had his trailer unloaded at wrong store, AND idiot manager of said store has already sold 1 pallet of product (not sure why idiots even busted seal or unloaded said trailer). After unhooking and taking paperwork back in to the site manager am told to rehook and take this load to store that didn't get it's load (despite it being full of wrong products), and TSC will arrange store-to-store transfer at later date.

So how is everyone doing today?

btw 2200 miles last week despite coming off hometime Tuesday and only running Texas. My checks are a minimum of 700/wk if I am out all week.

Surfer Joe enough already just because you couldn't handle working at Conway doesn't mean the rest can't either, my husband when running ( and by that I mean when he was working right no he's on medical leave) we average 2200-3000 a week, in a month time I think our lowest check was 580 and that was, which still isn't bad, I don't know about the rest of the drivers on here but I'd rather have a $580 check then no check. Are you that bored with your life that you have to come on here and bad mouth a company. Give it a rest and let other drivers and future driver decided for themselves no one ever pays attention to what comes out a person like you's mouth. Nothing but Negative things, you should be glad at that time you had a job even if you were only seeing 350 a week, a lot people would love to see that, go away now no one likes you

Oh I don't blame con-way at all, I had decent miles for the week (2800) & the company takes the mechanical stuff seriously (as reflected in our good csa scores). I certainly have not had any issues getting repairs approved -- even the marginal calls most companies wouldn't ok (for instance dry rotted sidewalls on tires with good tread). I was just frustrated at some of our drivers who are either not doing basic pti's or are just ignoring issues because fixing them would be inconvenient. I mean you can't expect a company to send out mechanics to check on the conditions of trailers dropped at every distribution center -- not only would it be obscenely expensive, but its the driver's job anyway.

Back in the shop, thanks to the wheel-holder who brought an unswept trailer that leaks excessive air to our relay. I know most prefer drop & hooks, but I'm hoping for a week of live loads so I don't have to give up trailers that I've just made worthy of level 1 inspections...

Oh and the prostar started smoking like crazy again under regen. But at least it hasn't derated & forced a parked regen with 8 miles notice in the last 3 days. That's something, right?

    positive positive positive

edit: went over-minutes on my cell phone last month; that's the first time in 5 years. So I just added up the minutes spent with con-way: 245 (90% of which was on hold waiting for road service). ridiculous.
