"Oh yeah, shutting off the a/c and opening the windows."

So I asked my recruiter about APU's on the trucks, and this was the answer. Is this false?

Trucks do have APUs? - Not very many of them do, we have clean idle on them. As long as you are in the truck it is OK to idle.

My apologies for the double entry of my question...also, I hope I'm not out of line in asking the question.

    Thank you

Very few of our trucks have apu, they are well into the cycle of trading them off.
    All have power invertors.
Clean idle is not 100% across all states, its a California thing, most N.E. states don't recognize it
Many states are even putting anti idle laws on books while in sleeper on break.
Yet the driver is liable for the ticket.
Apu are the only viable option, yet the bean counters in air conditioned offices don't have to worry about being comfortable, do they.
I had a apu truck, was happy with it, I made it work.
Now in a non apu truck, sweating.
Opening windows, with the $40 screens, I paid for, only works so well.
nothing better than having windows open and the smell of a urine soaked parking lot breezing in.
Or the reefer, or truck with open pipes parked next to you.

It's not really safe to be forced to keep your windows open while sleeping in some areas!!

Company policy allows you to idle if above 70 or below 20. There are bunkheaters that work well down to 20-30, but if you have a lot of stuff plugged in to your inverter, the bunk heater may shut off overnight (I learned to unplug my minifridge when using he espar).

During a 34, you are encouraged to idle for one continous hour about half-way through to recharge batteries.

None of that helps if youre in a place that doesn't allow idling though...
