San Anton...great week with student last week...now working off recap hours and sort of trapped in TX. HMMMM if I tell them San Antonio is a hostile environment since I am a Miami heat fan??? Worth a try. Laredo tomorrow, then who knows.

Headed back to Canuckistan -- 3rd trip in <2 weeks -- starting to wonder if I got volunteered for Ontario regional... Current assignment seems like a ton of work for 1300 miles in 4 days, but the stop pay (7 stops) & border crossing pay (x2) should make it worthwhile.

Drivers, I just completed my first full 30 days with Conway Truckload. Just about exactly 12,000 miles solo, and I even sat quite a bit. Had some great trips, just finished up a 1,919, kinda pushed for time so I pushed my ol' KW, 642, 689, and 498. When I'm working hard I get around 62.5 mph average for the days, use less than 12 hours of clock. The pay was what I was told, the conditions and support were what I was told, and guess what? My dispatch miles were really, really close to my GPS/odometer miles. You don't get too close with companies who use that disgusting Household Movers Guide mileage calculation. I was leaving $150-$400/month on the table with Swift. Conway has been true in every single thing they told me so far. In fact, I just got home, highlighted for home call on 04/09 to be home 04/17? Got home today, right on the request date. Incredible.

I will get a trip where it's nearly all interstate, d/h load, and get over 700 miles on an 11hr clock! I will, and I'll post it here. I was only 11 miles short that one day, Nashville to Dallas, and I wasn't really going for it that day. Let's see, 700 x $.38 = Oh Yeah!

Mustang, it sounds like you need an office job. Air conditioning, coffee, female employees, and weekends off. Seriously, being a driver is being a driver. Hurry up and wait is what my wife calls it, and that's our life so many times. Makes us love a good trip, doesn't it? Good shipper, good cons, good dispatch, good road conditions - might as well dream big. One more thing, a company is a team, and it includes everyone. In companies where the individuals are motivated, and everyone pulls their oar, good things happen more often than the other kind. I hope Conway continues with the excellent start they've made with me. So far beyond, WAY beyond, anything that happened in 13 months with Swift. Although to be fair, I washed out with Conway on the agility test last year, and Swift gave me a truck and miles.

Starboyjim, I think you have completely misread what Mustang was writing about. He was, in fact, explaining some things to me, at my request. He has been a driver for a very long time and is VERY aware of what it takes to be a great driver.

Step Off the curb there TwinkleBoy ! If you did some reading on the other 556+ pages on this thread ...you see mustang is a 20 yr CFI/Conway employee ...also he is the 2012 company driver of the year
(Shoot me Mustang if I got that wrong!) so if he wants to gripe abit on here in between his 3k week just let him do it ...he's prob got more of a pulse on Joplin than any of us baby conway drivers that have been on the payroll under 2 years ...

Plus do you really need to compare Conway TL to Swift?
You can bunch them with the other rotten fruit like CRST , Werner , cr England , ect ( All of them pull "our" Conway freight loads ...while you do some sitting ....but welcome
Get your passport then you can Really run had 11 hrs in US then 2 more in CA THEN a 8 hr break and you can run 13 more :) = OH YEAH

    Arenace and mustang970 Thank this.

Gosh, I'm impressed. I don't really care about Mustany, or what he says, any more than I care about the other 7 billion people on Earth. However, say what you will, disrespect is disrespect, and those office people don't need it any more than you do, or I do, or Mustang does. If we're a real team, let's try to respect each other, and not be dissing those who are working their jobs just as hard as we're working ours. A team is not a team of the members are beating up on other team members. Besides, it's so easy to beat up on the others, but who is perfect enough for that? I'm not, I'm a driver, no more, no less. "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Sound familiar? It's good advice. I don't understand how anyone who seriously means it about being part of a team, Conway specifically, could justify or defend beating up on other teammates. Just don't get that. A lot of truckers beat up on the office staff, on passenger cars, on anybody, it's a game I don't like. Look in the mirror, who's complaining about you?

I do compare Conway to Swift, etc. And Conway is a much better place, a better company to drive for. What are comparisons for? For one thing, they are useful in making decisions, if I have to spell it out for you. I think many drivers, new or experienced, would like to know some facts about the differences, the comparisons, between Conway and other training companies. So, peace out, yo. That Canada work sounds attractive, and yes, I do have a passport, and yes, Conway knows I have a passport and I'm looking for that first trip north. "Canuckistan" someone said? Hilarious.
