Why is Conway gettin into rail?...
Pete, I think that the cost of diesel fuel is the reason train-moved freight is the next big thing. In Albuquerque, BNSF has a subcontractor who has a truck company dedicated to moving their goods. I think it could be a trend. Like Google and driverless, automated trucks - maybe 10 years left for human drivers in any kind of numbers.futuretruckertx Thanks this. -
Mustang your right about the railyards. The last one I went to while at Conway was in Calf. It went a total of 19 miles but yet it took four hours to get In and out of the yard and to the Conway freight yard. And then they tried to send me back to the same rail yard. I politly said I'm not going back to the rail yard to spend all day for 38 miles and $40.00 cartage pay. I never went back and nothing was said. But drivers that read this. Make sure you have a good great working relationship with you FM. And never make it a habit saying your not going to do something. Make sure your a valuae asset to the company by ALWAYS being on time and no accidents that way when you don't want to.do something you have a leg to stand on. Make them think twice if you say no.

Star that's true but takes longer. Our stuff don't go on rails only stuff we send over seas

The latest update on me. I was with Conway for 15 months then went to Afghanistan as a civilian. After a few months over there they started layoffs yes even overseas they have lay offs. As mandated NJ the Government all contractors must reduce their work force by 30% as Afghanistan draws down. I was suppost to come back to Conway on June 3rd but had to delay because in the middle of May we found out that my 21 (22 year old as of yesterday has Cancer. So instead of being out on the road I wanted to make sure I'm here to walk thru this ordeal with her. Good news is after the 2nd chemo and the Great Blessings from God Almighty its already starting to shrink. The great news to a bad situation is she has the most curable cancer there is so once she's over this I'll be back. But the great thing is Conway said when I'm ready they will have a truck ready. So it looks like it will be at the end of the year before the road looks to be in my future.
