Conway Truckload Drivers what is your 20?

OK -- who did I piss off in operations? Cause I keep getting sent to these ###### up places (and always in the dark!).


Behold tonight's challenge:



Yeah that is the staircase going down to the flooded dock I'm supposed to be bumping -- Looks to be 18-24" of water at the deepest point. I just don't have *that* much faith in my maxxforce's wiring harness & its weedburner exhaust. Bunch of pallets piled to the side -- almost contemplating maguivering some sort of ramp

 

Truck is finally ready tired of sitting in the hotel after 5 days, ready to get back on the road and hopefully get some good load while you guys are all at home lol, hope everyone has a great week and holiday where ever you may be !!

Got a few hours in before the knocking started. Actually it was the knocking from truck next door.

Dock didn't look much better in the daytime. And my attempt to make a runway out of broken up pallets only resulted in wood chunks floating about...

Manager arrives and assures me that we deliver here all the time -- just drive straight through 'the puddle' and back right in. "Just like that?" I say. "Yep, no problems..." And all that water? "Well it has been raining all week." You don't say...

"You wouldn't happen to know of any agricultural variety stores nearby? They might have some irrigation pumps..." *Guy scratches his head thinking* "Nope, none that are open anyway." (Is this guy that dense, or did I just get out leveled by a master sarcastician?)

"All right," I say, "I can probably back all the way around the building to keep my tractor out of the worst of it, but I'm going to have to leave the tandems all the way up so the hubs don't get submerged. It might be a bit more bouncy than you'd like..." --Ok no problem-- "Do you want to break the seal now or after I'm closer to the dock?" *guy looks down at his Tony Lamas* --I'm not wading out in that, go ahead and break the seal yourself--

But it was a successful delivery and the ABS light is still functioning properly... Off to El Paso (Yay, headed in the right direction!)

Flying J in Waco has them in stock & @ $69 after mail-in rebate...

By the way, if you go into the Denny's there, make sure to sit in Harold's section. It'll still take 20 minutes to place an order (that place never has enough staff), but this guy is amazing. Hadn't been there in a month and this guy remembers my name & drink... He ought to be tending bar at some swanky hotel restaurant. Or maybe that's why he works at Denny's? Remembered a congressman's name too loudly and some reporter observed that young lady under his arm wasn't the congressman's daughter...

 

Guess road service didn't want to talk to me...

That's alright wouldn't want to disturb the freight drivers complaining about his uneven suntan on his hand and a little dust.

Up to a whopping 8 hrs on 70 so didn't board.

 

I dont even call RS anymore -- tired of burning through my minutes hearing about class 1 railroads, intermodal freight, & how conway drivers are the most important part of our service offering. And then you get that silence that makes you wonder if someone picked up so you say hello but are answered by the automated message looping back to the beginning...

Just send a 23 and write what you need to in the text field at the bottom...

got paid 7 hrs $84 detention from sleeping at shipper in Lancaster OH yay

should get another $12 on the unload on Monday ...

 

Thought cargo would be itching
for Chicago by now !
