Having to revise the numbers I gave for miles since I came back on the road this run. First 2 weeks were both in excess of 3000 miles. Last week was 1777, but I also had multi drop pay and northeast pay. This week (finishing today) I am officially dispatched 2641 plus multi stop pay and northeast pay.

it isn't for everybody ducky, but I find they are honest with me. I very seldom have terminal to terminal freight. However, we do have alot of stuff that goes to certain terminals, or you may pick up from a terminal.

Ducky, a couple of time a month I seem to get a line haul (terminal to terminal) for our less than truckload division, Con-Way Freight. Most drivers do as well. However, most of our freight is from one customer to another. I am seeing about 60 percent live loads and unloads and about 40% drop and hook.

You can expect 10k miles with a finisher after orientation. Takes about a month. Our finishing is not team driving like many companies. It is a solo schedule with you doing most of the driving.

Your finisher is there to relieve you until you build up your stamina. Likewise, the finisher will help you with tips for life on the road, company procedures, and how to get it there safely and on time. Safety is the number 1 priority and on time is 1A.

In over a year, there aren't very many customers that I have been to twice. So, every trip is new terrain.

All in all, you have made a great choice. I did the same about 15 months ago and after a year you can pretty much write your ticket to go anywhere. I chose to stay if that helps you.

Good luck, have fun, and be safe.

Good post RR. I am happy with Conway, as far as an OTR gig there is no other company I would even consider. However I will always maintain the loophole of "what's right for one may not be right for all".Some weeks miles suck, it is what it is. Other weeks the only way I even know where I am waking up is because of my GPS telling me where i am located. That is the nature of the beast. However, when I had issues with my hazmat endorsement and my passport (both of which are required Ducky) there was nothing said about it other than to let my FM and safety know when I got them. Also, I have been asked on 2 relays that required overnight running if I felt safe to run the loads or if they needed to find somebody else due to my having sat all day. Conway seems to genuinely care about your satisfaction, and they maintain a level of integrity in communication that is often lacking in the industry.

Hang in there Wolf...it averages out. I had two huge weeks, then I got two restarts in one week and picked up a load this morning (saturday) that delivers Tuesday! I am now parked 11 miles from the customer.

When you talk to you manager, explain that you understand that you have to take the good with the bad but please don't forget me out here.

That approach works with mine and we almost never have to have that conversation. I saw my screen once in Laredo and there was a note from her to local in Laredo to get me some miles. I hadn't even complained when she put that up there.

    Take the soft approach first.

    Good luck, be safe.

I'm always calm with my dispatchers, even the night and weekend guys are great here. I am pretty sure I know what made this week bad, I have been unable to go on board after my loads since I had a load that the scheduling required I run nights (not enough time to work it around for running days. After that they have had me running relays for guys who don't have the hours and a load has to deliver this next morning. So basically I have a ton of hours on my 70, but I keep running against my 14 with this stuff.

It's the nature of the beast.

Wolf you have a great outlook. On the 14 clock, take a look at a split sleeper option. It gets you on the board 2 hours sooner and could get you the load you need with time on it to get back to normal hours and better runs. Just a thought, maybe you already thought about it.

Say hi if you see a prostar with "Rooster" on the doors.

    Be safe.
