That's good if you don't want A/C or Heat like an APU provides.

    Couple things I noticed...

Why not use 12V batteries instead of 6 volt in series? Four-six deep cycle marine batteries would be better in his setup.

Inverter feed should be less than 6', preferrably 4' to prevent voltage drop from the battery source. There is no need for a battery cutoff switch as the inverter has it's own power switch.

APU off, my truck batteries will last all night without a second bank of batteries. You use a microwave for just a few minutes, a TV a couple hours. The only thing that's drawing all night is the refridgerator which is a very small intermittant draw. The low voltage shutdown protects everything. But it don't get that far and you have plenty to start the truck after 10 hours. Like he said in the video his draw is under 150 watts most of the time.

The only thing his system is good for is if you use an electric skillet or slow cooker all the time.

He needs to brush his teeth! :biggrin_2559:

I'm not out on the road yet......

I use to camp a lot. Love the outdoors. Here is what I would use to make coffee:

    1. One burner coleman stove
    2. A percolator like here: http://img.alibaba.com/photo/51507737/Coffee_Percolator___9801D_.jpg

This set up has several advantages.
-It does not take long to make an entire pot of coffee
-I think the percolator makes better coffee. Tastes better.
-I use it to make ICE TEA.
    For my ice tea
-9 tea bags in a perculator
    -Fill with water
-bring to boil for a few minutes (the smell is heaven)
    -Pour tea into gallon container
-Refill percolator with water but use the same tea bags
    -bring to boil
-pour that into the same gallon container
-Add one container of frozen lemonaid
-Stir, add ice if you got it.

My Aunt May use to make this on her farm. It was the best ice tea IMHO anywhere.

I buy Taste of Thai packaged dishes at the grocery store. Authentic ingredients and very very simple to make. My favorite is the Peanut Noodles....awesome.

I cooked in the truck all the time . i turned the fridge down to almost freezing things . i bought stew meat and potaotes with vegies. i kept a cammed food pantry under the bunk. i could put the meat in with bell peppers , garlic, and onions let it cook for about 150 miles then add sliced potatoes with come cream of whatever soup with some milk and let it cook for another 100 to 110 miles then unplug it . go another 100 miles and eat
