Is frying an egg or two with some bacon at the picnic tables at rest stops illegal?
I thought about this the other day.
At rest stops you often don't see people with stoves cooking. I know it is easier to stop at a fast food joint but it makes me wonder. Is it illegal or do people just not do it anymore?
Cooking outside of the truck at rest stops?

Probably not illegal except for Commifornia--where the smoke from frying your bacon might kill a whale or a dolphin or perhaps even someone's grandmother.
There will come a day when people will wish they hadn't wasted so much money on fast food... and iPods... and cell phones... and 26 inch wheels...
They'll wish they had an egg to cook in a rest stop.Ducks Thanks this. -
I do. There are some rest stops that even have small grills by tables. I have a small portable weber grill. Works great. I personally rarely stay at truck stops only using them for fuel and a shower as they are too dirty and the pee smell makes me sick.

I used to cook all the time, if I was running down the rd I had something heating /cooking in a crock pot or Burton stove. If I had the time I'd get out the grill and charcoal I also had a small propane stove, it was a great way to unwind and meet people. Make mine med rare

Man, we love your avatar...I get a kick out of it every time I see it. -
I've carried a folding grille for years (since the 70's) and can usually be found in the back row during a reset grillin' and chillin' with a flatbedder or two and sometimes a few adventurous fleet drivers that dare to cross into "serious flatbedder" territory.
Sometimes I have used it in a rest area but usually when I hit a rest area it's for about 5 minutes and then back to work.
