I didnt say anything about transportation regs. I said propane canisters are not inherently dangerous. If they were, no big box retailer with builds in assets would sell them.

All those enclosed space statements while true, dont apply because all you got to do is open the websites a few inches and voila no enclosed space

A bit of common sense and its perfectly safe.

The problem with common sense there is when truck drivers don't know the difference between a recreational vehicle and a commercial vehicle. Like I said, it is not even perfectly safe in a recreational vehicle (when designed for indoor use), and is outright illegal in a commercial vehicle.

The difference between a recreational vehicle and a commercial vehicle is a non factor in this discussion. We aren't talking about log books here, we are talking about a guy cooking himself dinner.

You can continue to live on garbage truck stop food if you want, and i'll continue to cook much better tasting and healthier food in my truck.

Well you don't have to cook with hazardous materials, and really shouldn't.
What you're trying to say sounds like one of those naive letters to the PHMSA: "concerning air carriers' reluctancy to transport your Coleman propane camping stove that you use to participate in chili cook-off competitions..." What do you expect? Like they're going to say, "oh, since you put it that way, we can't just stop a guy from doing his chili cook-off, and better let him keep some propane on the plane for that."

Nevermind planes though, the rules for carriage by public highway (Title 49 → Subtitle B → Chapter I → Subchapter C → Part 177) clearly state that "extreme care shall be taken" to "keep fire away" from division 2.1 (flammable gas) materials. So obviously you cannot have cannisters of flammable gas lit up, in or around a commercial vehicle, while it is in public (even if the cannisters were officially declared as hazmat for your shipment). I guess truckers won't necessarily have common sense about this, if they don't have to get a hazmat endorsement, but the law still applies to them.
