    hey guys,

I just realised I have a few drops of coolant under the coolant pump... pump itself was replaced 2 weeks ago with a new pump and sealed nicely by my mechanic in chi. also, coolant level is down a little... what might be the problem...

What kind of tractor, what kind of motor? Be specific.

I guess you're referring to the water pump. First thing I would think is gasket didn't seat, or is torn or defective. Do you see any puddles under the truck after its shut down?

How much antifreeze is it using over a course of days/miles?

1/2 gallon in 2 weeks let's say. I saw it dripping really slow tonight while idling

Many times the hoses and clamps are reused that connect to the water pump to keep costs down. Once coolant hoses have been in service for a while they harden up. Once they are removed, and then reinstalled, they will never seal 100%. You probably have a hose or o-ring that was reused. A simple loose clamp could be the issue as well.

    FAP Thanks this.

No worries...just trying to help us help you.

If it is weeping from the pump, and you don't have coolant leaking from anywhere else, and your oil isn't milky looking...I would suspect the gasket at the pump.

The above is absolutely true as well...I would run it with the hood open and see if you can spot where it's weeping from.

well, it is leaking through a weep hole but seems like less and less every day. my other concern is mixed oil with coolant. guy who changed pump changed oil at the same time but he added too much oil. I guess extra oil has to find It's way out somehow?
