Is it possible to change the coolant temp sensor on a c-15 acert without pulling the thermostat housing?

Sure is. Access from the front. Changing the sensor is the easy part. Getting that stupid red lock unlocked on the connector is a PITA. But not nearly impossible. Radiator hose hook/pick is what I use on the connector.

Thanks. Mine doesnt have the red locking tab.

I just swapped thermostats last weekend, so dont want to have to pull it all apart again.

Finding out the guy I bought the truck from was really good at hiding stuff.

Tild me they had but 150° thermostats in, but he had the correct ones just never changed them.

Figured that's why my coolant stays around 150, nope. Get in and it's the 190s that are supposed to be in there.

So hoping it's just the sensor that isnt reading correctly

I'd hit the housing where the sensor is with an IR temp gun first. That'll tell you if its truely a temperature problem or an instrumentation problem. Don't spend money on parts if you don't have to is how I see it.

The scenario that got me worried today is I was coming down a bridge and takin an exit with a sharp turn. So I was slowing with my jakes, when I got to the bottom I got a windshield full of steam.

Pulled over raised the hood and no busted lines but could tell the coolant must have boiled over, but gauge was still sitting on 150.

I need to get this figured out because I cant even tell how hot it's running

What year truck we talking? An early ACERT might use coolant temp sending unit that is from truck builder vs the Cat coolant temp sensor.

Like someone already said when the truck hits 150 hit it with a heat gun and see where the temp is.

Look at the corners of your radiator for any dampness. Most likely to see it on the back side just from air flow.
