I'm not sure if I ever told this story on these boards. Years ago I was dispatched to the Savannah River Site in SC. I was directed to drop my trailer and go park. I then watched a yard tractor pick it up and go inside a fenced-in area. About 2 hours later it came back. I was given a packet about the size of a mid-sized city phone book with some phone numbers stamped on it. I was going to an Air Base near Alamogordo. When I got there I was directed to spot the trailer into a warehouse door. I asked if there was somewhere I could go to use a restroom and get a coke. I was told to go inside there was a break room. After all that security, it turns out I carried a trailer load of Federal Government desks and chairs to be stored. I was laughing as I left that day. I debated just changing my story some to make it look like I was carrying nukes etc, but I just don't have the ability to sit with a straight face and embellish as some do.

Out west I went to a military base. Same thing truck inspected inside and out. Wait here, go talk to this guy. Etc etc. One pallet of balled paper. I did ask them why they didn't just burn it. The response I got was priceless. " too much paper work"

I ran a dedicated route for roller bed air freight at my last job. I unloaded right on the ramp at my home airport, and often had to back (very carefully) next to the A300 in the picture.

In preparation for going to a terminal doing cyrogenics, I was sent to do a 'ride along' at another location where we supplied the power and drivers.
Rode along for two loads of Nitrogen to the place near Phila. making Burger King hamburgers. had a quick tour watching them press the burgers on a conveyor into the N2 tunnel and the hockey pucks falling out the the other end into a plastic bag lined box.
Then off to the cafeteria, fresh whopper size burgers, cheese, buns, condiments and a hot grill...got to be too much after the second trip that day...D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
