I'm a company driver and have had this happen twice in the past year, it seemed to me that it had something to do with the high pressure valve associated with the A/C compressor.
-
Could need a solenoid, clutch, hub assembly, or all three.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Unplug the wire going to fan sol. then with eng. off an fan on(not able to turn fan)ck. for air leak around fan hub? add or take off power or air bypass small air lines to sol. to make fan release so fan will freewheel and ck. for leaks again
-
Lol, also make sure the fan override switch on the dash is in the off position...
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
checked all over this thing, no air leak. have not tried to bypass air solenoid, but did unplug fan relay switch at a/c dryer. by unplugging it, that usually turns my fan on. On the fan relay switch located at the a/c dryer, um, am I suppose to have power on one of the wires? mine has none. pls help

Do you have your vent on defrost mode for heat?
If so it will kick on the fan as your a/c comp. will cycle on and offCetane+ Thanks this. -
just buy a new clutch. Had this problem, no air leaks from clutch but fan ran non stop, sometimes bearing in the clutch goes bad. Put a new clutch in. and don't buy rebuild kit it will last maybe one thousand miles

thanks to all, i opened the fan sylenoid, and removed a clogged wire filter, fan then operated properly after that. I will by a new one as soon as i get to parts house.
