And this is one of the key reasons one would be taking a big risk buying a used fleet truck.
I wouldn't think for 1 minute that a rookie making 30 cents a mile is going to cool the motor, warm it up, or do all the other things to make an engine last.

Also long idle with no APU.

How often do you all grease the chassis?
I was going 30k. Maybe should be sooner.

    5,000 km in summer
Let it go a bit longer in winter, but not more than 10,000 km. It seems to need it more frequently the warmer it is outside. Can feel it in how it rides. Oil 25,000km range. As in not less than 20 but not more than 30. If I idle in winter due to cold I do it earlier. Eleven though it keeps oil gold for about 15,000 km. Overkill? Idk. Don't care. Cheap insurance. The goal is not to trade it rather keep for hopefully a long time. 2.5 million km like my old classic, that's now on its way to 3? I wish.

There also is no substitute for lifting front axle to do king pins. I don't have the ability to do that but mechanic does. I'm convinced that is where the noticeable difference is when he does it at oil change time vs me doing it just sitting on the ground.

I had a u joint failure years ago and I don't want to do that again. So I check them all the time. Smallest bit of slop I get my mechanic to change it.

I let the oil temp get below 200 and the watch the pyro for exhaust temps in the 300 range. I sometimes run the engine fan on very hot days to cool her off. But still, I like to idle her around ten minutes before shutting down, watching the gauges of course. When fueling, I rarely turn the motor off, just let her idle.

Oil change every 10k and grease 2 times in between-- 3 to 3500

You’ll see way more people commiting the sin of not letting the truck warm up than you will not letting it cool down.

As has already been said, by the time you pull off the road and get parked, there should be plenty of time to let it cool down. There is no telling how many times I’ve seen somebody just start a cold engine and go. That is just as bad or worse than not cooling it down, especially when it’s really cold outside.

I've been told the EGR valve is also sensitive to quick engine shut down still hot ; i understand it needs few min at idling rpm to cool down in order to close/open properly.

I agree, much much more important to let it warm up. 15-30 minutes in warm weather and blowing heat and warm cab which is about an hour in winter.
