Was delivering to a customer today and cop pulled me over and said I was on a road I shouldn’t be on. The customer’s name is GE distribution center located at 238 Belvidere rd, Perryville, MD. I followed the GPS and I was on a road called hwy 7 which also goes by Philadelphia rd. It is a truck legal road according to the GPS. I’ve never had a problem with the GPS in a year and a half of driving. He said the GPS was going to take me down a residential area and they’ve been trying to get it fixed for a year. He also said there were signs which the only signs I saw were Detour signs. I was apparently supposed to go down 40 east which is right next to hwy 7. He ended up giving me a written warning. Then I said this is gonna go on my points and he told me I don’t have to report it. He said this written warning is between me and him. I got to the customer and told them what happened and they say that it happens all the time. When he pulled me over he immediately starting telling my license plate # to dispatch. I’m hoping he just wanted to see if this was my 1st time making this mistake. I think they now have me in the system and if I make the same mistake again THEN I will get a ticket. I’m hoping this won’t go on my record. I ended up calling my FM and telling him that I could’ve gotten a ticket and they need to update the instructions for this customer. I didn’t tell him I got a written warning tho. I can’t afford anything else on my record. Should I report this? Is there any way for me to find out if this went on my record before reporting?
Cop gave me a warning, do I have to report it to my company?

If that ticket was combined with any sort of DOT inspection, your company will find out soon. Otherwise not.
roshea, snowlauncher, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
There was no inspection. He just pulled me over for 5 minutes and asked for my registration and license. Then he came back with the written warning.

An ironclad rule in trucking hasn't changed,, keepa you big mouth a shut. I think Mr. Cop was just checking you out, and no ticket or inspection, tells me they had a slow night in where now? Perryville? Barney Fife some time to kill and I'd throw the warning in the circular file.
austinmike and xzmpt Thank this. -

That rd is truck restricted and there are signs. There is an ikea dc I pick up at occasionally right by that rd. My garmin truck gps routes around that rd.
