    I am a retired cop.
In our department written warnings were filed in a box and after seven years shredded.
When we pulled someone over their license plate was entered into the department dispatch computer along with the location of the stop. When we cleared the stop the disposition was entered such as written warning truck route.
While the driver information was on the warning it was never entered in our department computer. I would radio in the cab license plate; some dispatchers would enter it under the misc. section.
If we pulled the same trailer over it would let us know it had been stopped before. No driver information was listed.
Dispatch could go pull the written ticket to see who was driving.
Nothing was entered into a state database so it would not show up on any license check
Every department is different. I used to just give verbal warnings, so nothing was in writing. When I was told all warnings would be written that stopped.

    tscottme Thanks this.

Here's the difference between a written warning and a verbal warning:

A written warning is a piece of paper with no legal merit, and which will be recycled into toilet paper eventually.

A verbal warning is what a cop gives you when something isn't worth creating a written warning. Maybe the cream in his coffee was spoilt that morning, or maybe he just didn't get a chance to kick a puppy or shut down a kid's lemonade stand yet, until you came along....
