They told the wife her university might be closing after spring break and her classes are being moved online, kids schools might close, Disneyland just shut down in SoCal, so it’s happening.

Only a bunch of pansies would let a cold virus wreck our economy. I sincerely mean this from the bottom of my heart. Wish we would stop focusing on the shiny object and focus on how to become self sufficient as a country again. But we won't. I think we are to stupid. Like herding cattle into a pen.

I wonder how many towns, cities, and sports leagues, shut down for the swine flu in 2009 when over 12000 died in the US and over 250000 died worldwide with over 60M infected?

I've read that vaccines for this virus are 1 -2 years out whereas the swine flu vaccine was quickly developed due to previous strains/outbreaks.
    That is probably why.
The other problem is in this country we don't produce ANYTHING anymore and are more susceptible to the other producing countries we trade with, shortages and their own priorities, tariffs and other logistical issues.
In addition I believe the transmission rate is fairly substantial i.e. doubling every 6 days or so. Each individual infects 2+ to 3+ other individuals. Until that drops under 1 we can expect the numbers to rise and the concern/panic to continue.

I call total BS on the body shop. If the body shop is worth a Toot it is backed up 4 to 6 weeks this time of year anyways.

This Call to Action has only hit home in the last 7 days .

The ripple affect won’t start to hit until next week.

Give us 2 weeks of lockdown to slow and contain the Virus and get a handle on this and America will Spring back.

Right now the main concern for the state and federal authorities is slowing the spread. Eventually, they're predicting that the majority of US citizens will be exposed to it. If they can slow it down, then it will spread out the exposure rate, and everybody won't get sick at once overwhelming hospitals and causing more deaths. Slowing it will also help prevent industries from shutting down completely. People who get it the worst need to be on a ventilator to live, and I heard this morning that there are fewer than 80,000 ventilators in the US. If too many people require ventilators, many more will die because they won't be available.

The good news is that most kids seem to be immune to it, most showing no symptoms at all. Hopefully they'll figure out why and it might lead to a vaccine faster. The bad news is that even though they show no symptoms, they can carry the virus home to family members that will get sick.

Every strain of the corona virus is unique, which includes the strain that causes the common cold as well as influenza. The Spanish flu of 1918 killed over 50 million world wide through the mid 1920's, and most of the deaths were healthy adults between the ages of 20 and 40, and people continued to get it until 1957. Lets hope this one isn't nearly as bad as that strain.

Some day something like this will get us all, but this one ain't it. In the mean time, stop buying so much freekin toilet paper.
