please don't give out incorrect information. this is not THE FLU. We have immunities to the flu, we don't do this virus. The flu doesn't cause people to be put on ventilators. The flu doesn't exponentially grow like this virus is infecting. The flu doesn't overwhelm ICUs. While I am not going doom and gloom. Making light of a serious issue is worse.

The numbers I have seen are 1 - 1.5 - 1.7 or 2 million dead.
This is not the flu.

Where is that information coming from? Overweight, diabetes, elderly, already sick, asthma, you're probably done, IF you can't get an ICU bed. Otherwise symptoms are mild, regular flu like symptoms. I'd like to know where there are faces melting off and alien mushrooms sprouting out of people's lungs...

Found out this past weekend that my sister in law’s husband treated a patient with COVID-19 and about 48 hours later he had a high fever and put himself into self quarantine. Both my sister in law and her husband are doctors at different hospitals in Boston. They have 3 children between them of which one of them (the middle child,one of my nieces,aged 9) may have been exposed. They’re waiting to find out the results of the tests (it’s been almost a week and a half so far-no word yet). My wife notified me that the governor activated the National Guard. Most of the cases with this virus involved people who had recently traveled to Italy. Also a good portion for them caught it at a Biogen meeting conference in Boston.

I’ve seen virus outbreaks before but nothing this bad to a point where states are shutting down and issuing stay at home orders. My wife was ordered to stay at home for the past week while they(undoubtedly) try to disinfect and sanitize the state police crime lab(only the supervisors and janitorial staff have been going in). We’re dealing with a virus that is practically throwing us into unknown territory. Not even the HIV/AIDS pandemic was this bad(almost 40 years and still no cure for that one).

 

95 % off all that is media tailspin on exception cases that can be made to look like the outbreak of a deadly plague...like the 65 year old in Orange county in the isolation stretcher, they play that clip so much, they love that clip, whatever it takes to make it look like some video game apocalypse. Like it's Andromeda Strain or something, like they don't know how it will crawl through your AC and kill you in your sleep next. Gtf out of here.

The number of infected cases are factual numbers from the CDC. The rate of hospitalization if the infection rate is not "flattened" is shown by the way the Italian hospitals, as well as NYC hospitals are already being pushed to their limits. It is factual that we have no built up immunity to this strain. Unlike the common flu, or vaccines for it. While I don't want people to panic and spread doom and gloom. You acting like this is all BS is gonna potentially get someone killed, or someone they love killed. Because they don't take some simple precautions to wash their hands, etc. So I am kindly asking you to not make light of it.
