Very interesting Facts from a older couple who survived Corona
shatteredsquare Thanks this. -
When we were home owners we had certain big time expensive rebuild jobs such as rewiring a entire home starting at the mains below the service drop. Our original box from the 60's was underrated and trying to set the house on fire burning through it's 60 amp insulation while pulling 90 amp plus some days. But we dropped it out and built a 200 amp mains on there.
The work was done by two younger electrician students (I don't know exact union title for these two students who were early 20's and scheduled at some point to be master electricians later in life) along with the air conditioning professional who was also very young did a good job. I found no fault with their work quality. These are the ones who are going to be a Lord to use a old southern term for those who have earned good things in life through hard work.
I remember another we hired, a iraqi vet infantry he asked us are we going to give him total peace and quiet while working on three bad trees to be removed. We assured him spouse was a vet and I'll stay out of his way anyway. We hired him back a few more times as a neighbor was also a vet and a current combat medic EMT type person availible for him while he was working on our lands.
He got his peace and quiet more or less. Just him and the saw. And one of us with him somewhere in view just to keep him safe. When we finished that group of trees and could not find any more for him to work on he said he was sorry to go he enjoyed his time on that job. What did it for him big time was the laughing children tribe across the fields as they played around the big swimming pool. As long the children stayed out to play and laugh to him that means a form of being safe for the moment without enemies behind every blade of grass. So those kids did him a huge favor that week all week.
I don't know what Iraq did to this man or what he had to do but he got his absolute peace and quiet. Overwound like a 2.00 watch too. But it was a joy to see him just settle into the work and unwind.Midwest Trucker and No Time Thank this. -
You put a smile on my face this AM, thanks. You're right, it's not all doom & gloom. It's guys like you, and many others, that see through the daily ongoing socialist (communist) BS that was forced on us all for the last 40 years or so.
It was never my intent in my previous post to portray boomers as the best generation, somehow, that was misinterpreted by some.
Make no mistake, many boomers bought into the socialist (communist) form of government, and went on to teaching and leadership positions. Over time, many greedy boomers, with the help of boomer leaders, have sold out their fellow countrymen (middle class) for the dollar, all the while uncaringly contributing to the communist buildup. We were once a manufacturing leader, but now, virtually nothing's made here anymore. Good paying jobs are hard to come by, adding to the detriment of the country, as the money doesn't circulate here anymore. Thus the subsequent generations of, X's, Mil's, Z's now have a bleak future, are left looking for answers, while holding an empty bag,
Peoples ease of stupidly obtaining credit, mortgages, & loans in large sums, with high interest, that can never hope to be repaid, adds to the plight.
When I was young "student loans" didn't really exist, you either had a scholarship (few), your daddy paid your way, or you worked two jobs to pay the tuition. College is way over rated, but besides the media, what better way to pump communist mush into young heads.
The middle class is in rapid decline. If we continue on our current path, it will soon be reduced to rich & poor. This plays well with socialists (communists) as poor people are easier to control.
This country is not perfect, far from it, but it's still the best country and form of gov't in the world. Our founding fathers never perceived the level of corruption that has happened in our leadership; hence, they would have put term limits in place from the onset.
It makes me proud though that there's still guys like you, along with many others, that will hopefully ensure this country stays free. It's imperative that we teach this to our children.
We must never forget our forefathers who fought and died to keep this great country free. Never give in, buy into, or even compromise, to the socialist (communist) manifesto that bombards us daily. Make no mistake socialism (communism) is NOT the answer, our Constitution is not an "outdated" document. Future generations depend on you guys.
You're right, there are many young O/O's that are succeeding, may God continue to bless you all and this great nation.TokyoJoe, Midwest Trucker, Sirscrapntruckalot and 6 others Thank this. -
So good news, doc says the test came back negative and I'll be out on the road again soon making y'all look bad.
I did forget to ask the doctor if the test was able to tell if I had the virus and recovered or that it only tests that I had it when I was tested. I'll find out and report it.
Adding something to what Clauseland said:
Years ago before I left NY I was having trouble finding work because I hadn't finished college. In my 20's I had considered going back but I needed money so obviously I got a job. If I ever got a lead on something "with a future" I might go back to night school and complete my degree.
Unfortunately, all I got was a lot of doors slammed in my face. The one I'll never forget (or forgive) was a national rental chain that refused to hire me without a degree. I don't know what major you need to detail and park cars but I was insulted.
For a while I had a pet theory that the reason why degrees are needed is just to sooth the ego of the HR people, many of whom could do their jobs with a HS diploma. But since THEY went to college then whoever they hire MUST have gone to college as well. Just to justify their own expense.TokyoJoe, Sirscrapntruckalot, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -

This is the biggest overblown crock of #### in History. The more I see and read, its just more apparent. People are feeding into this end of the world fear brought on by too many zombie and apocalypse type shows & movies.
Im at the TA in Laredo, only 9 people are allowed in the store at a time, because if 10 get in, everyone will automatically have coronavirus.
We as a society are screwed. We are literally destroying ourselves from the inside out. No war had to take place, just scare people with words and watch it all come crashing down. -
A forklift driver in California gave me some very good advice this morning:
