From what I understand Guam is building out space on one of the bases near the sea to take potentially all 5000 from that carrier if need be. All of them are being tested according to CincPac. So if we are down a carrier, we can round up a replacement crew from home near Norfolk and man that ship once it's disinfected.

Its too bad most of our carriers were badly abused and used hard since 9-11 and are in "The shop" for long periods of time to be fixed if ever. Its a interesting situation, but somewhat of a tragic one.

again, 44 years old, and died "due to complications related to covid-19". Doesn't say anything at all regarding what complications, or what treatment he sought, or if he sought treatment, or how long he waited to seek treatment, etc etc.

the takeaway from that entire absolutely pointless news article? here... put this on a billboard, bold text, as big as you can make it. I want to make sure everyone can see it, and i want the fear to sink to your bones and start affecting your decisions, then i want you to give your fear to your children so they can spread it around even further.

It's really starting to piss me off, that article could just have easily been about the regular flu, because that same situation happens annually, all the time, in the tens of THOUSANDS of "died due to complications from a common illness"

 

Well. I was as skeptical as you at first but it is time to go past the denial phase. Never have I seen hospitals overfilling with poeple needing respirators.
I never been scared of any flue but this one, so far, earned my recognition at least.

Maybe these levels of publicised fear and tension are needed to get the message engrained that individual social distancing efforts will be the determining factor in the initial death toll in this first and second wave
