Wow i never had any turbo issues with none of mines, but yes i have heard that same story from others. But that was always the twin turbo i heard that about and most just convert over to a single turbo and got better results. ISX i can't stand them/hate them things, now the red top N14 i have absolutely no complaints about this one either.

My company issued Western Star Set back axle 4900 was a pain to park with that sloping hood.

You could never figure out where the end of your nose was.

My 1997 international 9300 has the exact same wheelbase with a set forward axle.

Side by side front axle to front axle the nose of the Western hung out 18 inches past the international , both trucks were exact same wheelbase and overall length.

When you look across the hood of the international you know where it is. And though the international is 20 years older the set forward axle rode and drives soo much better.

I drive a Chevy van for my daily driver so I am used to riding over the front axle.

But you couldn’t give me a set back axle in a semi unless it was a new Volvo.

Well thank goodness my experience with them are completely different. Because i was a Detroit fanatic before. And every last one of them either had poor performance up in the mountains or didn't last long and needed another overhaul.

ISX, VGT turbos and EGR valves seemed to be common failure items.

That’s with 72 inch sleepers on both also.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dumping on Cat by any means. They were definitely the king in engines and in earth moving equipment back in the day. These days I see a lot of other brands that are just as compareable though.

You definitely can't beat Cat's support though. You can still pull up service and parts information from equipment built 40+ years ago in SIS. Most of that old stuff still has parts availability as well. I haven't really seen that with other manufacturers.

Yes i completely understand and again you're correct. Now i am curious about the X15, because i heard from a few drivers that says that they loved them. And were much more improved in performance and reliability, but none of the ones I've spoken with about them. Had owned them very long either, so I'm all ears about these motors and real experience from the actual owners. Do you have any knowledge/experience with the X15??
