I don't know. If it were to wipe out like half of California, I think one would have to look at it like "The enemy of my enemy is my friend. "

Prepare to be quarintined with everyone on plane if even one ran a fever. USA is very serious about this. You will be held in either CA at March AFB or another in Texas. There are 10 more bases built as I type this to hold more as time goes by. Dallas is the closest to Arkansas and Leavenworth is the other.

In fact don't bother waiting until later. Fly out now while you can. Airlines round the world are cutting service everywhere.

all anyone can be is proactive. flu shots are available all year long, and my wife and i get ours yearly. now this new virus as i heard on the radio talk show, will not have a vaccine until next year. but at the very least, getting a yearly flu vaccine cannot hurt.

of course, we can still get the flu, but it should be a milder version of one.

too many people just do not believe in getting flu shot, so be it.

other precautions would be to wash your hands frequently, use the anti-bacterial wipes for the shopping carts, or carrying baskets, at any store you go to. i'd go as far as using the clorox wipes in a rest room stall, on the door lock, and toilet seat, and the cold/hot water faucets.

can there be an extreme sense of worry or panic?

maybe it can be, but as the earth is old, we have had viruses, that some catch, get sick, and get better, and sadly many others died.

what is galling, is the numbers of people not getting vaccinated to stave off diseases or illnesses, and complain about any pandemic.

The day before I ended up in the ER we were at the store and noticed way too many people coughing up a lung. There are apparently many who cannot be bothered to get a flu shot. We got ours out of habit. I have not had a proper bronchial illness since I started getting flu shots about 25 years ago. Even though MRI confirmed there is a level of damage in that particular area. We also have vaccines designed to prevent bacterial flooding of lungs every few years as well among a couple of others. We both picked up MMR boosters a year ago. One tested positive for MMR and required a booster and I went ahead and got one even though I have the original card from the first series back in the 60's and 70's along with Polio etc.

Maybe because of trucking or in spite of it I consider my system pretty strong in the immunity side as well as the healing side. There have been times Ive run massive fevers getting sick on the road, its never fun. If there is one enemy I fear its tuberculosis or TB. Its a very old scourge that swept Baltimore several times. It also makes for a one hell of a medical reason to shut the big bosses up when they whine about you being away from work so many days. (Testing) They hear the word TB and Im back home faster than you can make lunch =)

And in NYC. And and and and.

Whats really worries me is the colleges around the USA including ours at Harding in Searcy are getting ready to pull in hundreds if not thousands from overseas, Italy to be particular. Some of those probably will be infected and if Arkansas is going to have a case it will be from one of those travelers.

Yesterday's case where a woman thought she had the coronavirus here in Arkansas was used as a real world drill as if she did. Ultimately she is being charged at some point and thats the end of that one. The communciations were really fast in this state. It was not but 20 minutes after before the media was all over it via our ADH. (Arkansas Dept of Health) She was transported to Baptist west which is a major hosptial of itself that handles almost as much as UAMS does. and people talk here. Just like when tornados are in the area, they call each other and spread the news.

Ok so you get a flu shot for what,to get sick for somethin to do?? There are approx 200 different versions of the flu virius and a flu shot is nothin more than russian roulette of picking which one it will work on and the shot only covers two or three versions of the flu bug....That gives you a 1.5% chance of getting the correct shot for the bug that may or may not even affect you....
Its a glorified cold ...You have a better chance w/o unless your immunal system is compromized and even then its a guess that the vaccine will be the right choice....
Now re the corona virius, the flu shot does zero....If anything,by getting flu shot you put yourself in more danger by impeding the health of your immune system by now getting sick...
If you eat/sleep deciently and your not in any sorta health hazzard as is then you will likely be fine from flu......

Ok, pretty much all wrong, but I can understand your frustration. First, they base the flu shot on the dominant strain of the virus that year. Meaning if Strain A is showing more signs in the countries that start their flu season early, than say B or C. Then they use that vaccine which in turn will either A) keep you from getting that strain, or B) if you get another strain, lessen the effects of said virus. You are right that the shot doesn't mean you won't get it. But it increases the odds you won't, or at the least will be impacted less by it.

However, your argument is like telling a LEO to not wear a Vest. I mean it doesn't guarantee he/she won't be killed by a bullet. But it A) can stop them from getting hurt, or B) greatly reduce the damage when they do get shot.

Oh and the flu is not a cold. The flu kills, if you were sick for just a couple days, you didn't have the flu, you had a bad cold, if you were sick for over a week, and borderline needed the hospital. Then you had the flu. Flu is no joke.
