Was offered a brand new Great Dane a few months ago for $125k.
Was more than I was willing to pay at the time.

Yikes. $125K is more than I’m willing to pay too unless they want to give me $90K for my 2019 Great Dane.
I assume it’s mostly the mega carriers sucking up all the orders that is keeping pricing inflated. The same Utility trailer I purchased in November and took delivery in April was $94.5K but if I could have bought another one with delivery this was quarter for $124.5K…bonkers -
I have 3 that are getting units installed right now.
Full spec Great Dane and full spec chrome Thermo King. Came out to about 111k each but buying them separate did save me some money. So, 115k is probably pretty accurate. -
That's sounds more in-line what I was thinking for GD and TK. Where did you get yours from? When did you order them?

Called around today and not a one Great Dane or Utility available from about the 10 dealers I called. I'm just floored by the pricing, but I guess I shouldn't be. If I wanted to spec like the 2019 GD w/TK S600 unit I currently have it would cost me around ~$117K. 4 years ago it cost me $74K.
There is a possibility of 2 GD with a S700 become available on Friday. These have every option available including the Timpte sides. Seriously thinking pulling the trigger if the current buyer falls through but the million dollar question is if pricing will decrease next year or will manufacturers continue limit supply to drive price increases (even though their raw material costs will be decreasing).
I just can't see how some of the carriers can continue to operate. Even if you're on contracted rates the ROI is still in the low single digits on a $200K truck and $117K trailer. -
Your 19 is probably worth 90k so it’s all relevant.
I think you asked when I ordered the current trailers coming online. It was around mid March to Early April. I bought the reefer units back then as well so I’d have them for a July when the trailers came. I called many dealers to find the slots.
If you’d like I can ask the dealer if he has any on the ground currently.
Edit: These new T680 trucks last spring I was still at 145k and by last December was at 158k. Now, I’m august the two that came were 175k. It’s been just ridiculous. Put on a 13k Tri pac evolution and your at 188k plus 111k for a top of the line reefer setup. $299,000 for one freaking rig going down the road.Last edited: Sep 6, 2022
HaulinConestoga, Siinman and bzinger Thank this. -
If I got $90K for my 2019 I'd buy that 2023 in heartbeat. I know mentally it would justify paying +$130K for a trailer. I know that's the price you have to pay to play the game, but that's just a lot of money.
Siinman and Midwest Trucker Thank this.
