As the title says, I'm curious if anyone has done it and what it costs. I just bought a 2000 Pete with a Cat 3406E less than 170,000 on a brand new motor. Still carries factory replacement warranty.
I'm not PLANNING on running Commiefornia, but being based out of the city of Lost Wages, it might be a convenience to be able to. Has anyone done a retrofit to something similar and what is the cost?
Cost of retrofit for Cal?

Let them starve.
They are making more rules than the industry can absorb, and ruining it for the rest. -
Do not waste your time or money on it, just keep running. I go there every week from Phx and have not been bothered by anyone.

CAT recommends NOT putting a DPF on it. It's cheaper for you to move than pay to put that $%^# on your truck. And YES, they will catch you over time.

Anybody or any state that deliberately dumps precious drinking water into the Pacific, just to save a three inch smelt doesn't deserve the revenue they're creating with these retrofits and all the other petty BS that goes on in that bankrupt state, aimed at destroying the trucking industry.
i can't recall but it was either 30 million or 30 billion gals of fresh water, they got rid of.BeN DaViS Thanks this. -
Don't do it! You've got a great engine (by reputation) with low mileage.. You will ruin your fuel economy and the engine. -
If you have a 3406E with 170,000 original miles on it Do Not do anything to it besides change oil. Historically that motor will get a million plus on it before overhaul. If you start bolting on bs to that truck you'll ruin it. There is nothing "convenient" about Cali's oath to destroy any decent truck ever built.
BeN DaViS Thanks this. -
I have been told it will cost about $15,000 to retrofit.
