Cost of smoking

Wish I would have been smart and not even started and just put the money back. The numbers I put in didn't even count my bad days when I smoke more. Oh well I tried quitting and that lasted 5 months, came to the conculsion it was legal to smoke and illegal to kill.

 

I hear ya there! Class A, 4 Star, B*##$! Doesn't even begin to cover what I'm like when I try quitting! I use to have a bumper sticker (put it on my case for one of the bass guitars I use to own - 'Harassing me about my smoking may be hazardous to your health!'

The thing that really sucks is that most of the stop smoking aids don't help, and the one they come out with that actually works creates too many other problems (suicidal thoughts, health issues, and a host of other bad things). I'm talking about that chantix stuff here. I've read some pretty bad stuff about that lately. I think it is now on the list of no-no's for DOT, or will be soon. FAA just recently banned its use by pilots after having approved it only a year or so ago.

 

I will just light up because I have to much stress going on right now I don't need more with the help of chantix. A friend of ours was on it a year ago and it about cost him a divorce.

 

That's sad! Nothing like a medication to screw up your life, or almost do so. The one article I read was in a trucker mag that my hubby picks up. Some of the negatives of this med are psychosis, aggression, suicide, paranoia, hallucination, heart problems, and diabetes. That's the short list! I'll stick with the smoking too for now. If I want to go psycho, I'll just go cold turkey, and not with the help of some drug!

Been struggling for years with quitting... Not as bad as I used to be, but it's all bad I guess.

 

I quit last month after smoking for 2 years on and off. Cost me 5G's. Grrrrrr.

Its really crazy to see that money go away like that. Smoking is such a crazy addiction. Ozzie Ozborne said that he would rather see his kids do heroin than smoke, because it is so hard to quit. I want to quit so bad before I go back to trucking. It is so easy to chain smoke when you drive. Especially when you are stuck in traffic.

 

I'd really like to quit also. My hubby and I had both been considering chantix, but the insurance wouldn't cover it, and we couldn't afford it. Then I started hearing about all the problems with that med, and was glad that the insurance wouldn't cover it.

I had almost succeeded in quitting early 2007, but after getting the run around with doctors about my back problem, I sort of blew my stack. I have disc degeneration in the last 2 discs in my lumbar (low) section of my back. Don't need surgery yet, but the bone heads I was seeing basically were telling me I would have to live with the pain. Between that, and the nightmare I went through to be able to see doctors in a different network, I was getting too #### peeved to give it up. I'll take a crack at it again soon though. Probably early next year.
