It's $32.10 in IN and $40 in OH if you just stay on 80 on your way into PA. You can save $0.25 if you get off at the truck stops near Toledo and get back on at the same exit. Haven't been able to figure that one out.

Just doing an estimate of Franklin WI to Columbia NJ , only tolls you'll pay is illinois and a little indiana...94 down to 80-90 to IN49 to US30. over to I-71 to I-76 back to I-80 :) only 20 miles longer...last company tried to keep us off toll roads as much as possible

i've found it cheaper and much faster to just pay the toll.

you don't have the slower speeds and the traffic lights.

and shorter doesn't save you fuel if it takes you longer to run. you might save wear and tear. but the engine is running longer and your stop and go consumes more fuel.

for instrance. gallup nm to phoenix az. 60 miles shorter through the mountains but takes 4 hours longer. compared to just staying on the freeway and going through flagstaff.

You can get around the ones in Illinois too and you don't have to pay any in Indiana if you just take 94 to 49 down to 30. If it was me going from Wisconsin to NJ I would leave wisconsin around 9 at night and run 94-41-94-49-30-71-76-80. If you can hit the stop lights in indiana at night on 30 you can cruise right through there then its smooth sailing the rest of the way.

WE used to deliver road salt to Chicago from Louisville a few years ago. On the wy back, at nearly rush hour, half the driver wouldn't pay the tolls and sat in traffic. Me and two others paid the tolls and got back two hours faster.

    No traffic.
    Got home sooner.
    Less chance on an accident.
    Less irritation.

They couldn't believe we beat them back so fast. We also stopped for dinner :biggrin_2559:

IN toll road, I take 94 to exit 40A, which is US 20 east US 35 south and take 20 east to IN 2 which is the truck route for 20 and run that to the US 20 bypass around South Bend, and either go up and pick up the Toll road at County Road 17 or just run 20 east into OH. We don't have EZPass, and I have sat at the toll booths at either end for up to 20 minutes since they mostly automated the tolls.

IN toll road doesn't save enough anything to make me want to run it, and the Skyway is only worthwhile late at night, any road can be fouled up beyond belief. My route is several miles shorter than 80/94 to 80/90 and has maybe seven stoplights and the traffic circle in Angola. They rebuilt the 2 bad corners east of Shipshewana

In Ohio you probably save enough time to make the turnpike worthwhile, but going around Cleveland this time of year, I'd rather run farther south.

The toll roads I use most often are the H.E. Bailey, Turner and. Will Rogers on I44 in Oklahoma. Heading east the tolls are $5.00, $5.50, $3.75, $16.50 and $16.50.Looks like they are getting ready to go to automated collection on the H.E. Bailey.

If you need to you can run 49 down to 30E, run 30 across IN and OH to 76, 76 to 80, 80E in PA to whatever.

IF you need to get around the PA pike, look into route 322 in state college off I99 to harrisburg and go from there...

I've ran 20 and 2 up around cleveland as well which is a nice route but this time of the year i would avoid cleveland because of the snow...

322 isn't too bad, but I've been avoiding it most of the winter. Every time I look up the weather when I'm in Harrisburg it seems to be snowing in State College and it's clear running 76. Not sure if it's really that bad usually, but if there is a decent alternative around the snow I'll take it.
