Diff output shaft? New shaft, couple of ujoints, seal, few hours of labor, I don't think that is bad. I generally don't comment much on prices or labor times because everyone thinks they can do it cheaper or faster so the argument goes and goes. Too many people seem to think everything should take only 8 mins and $15 to fix.

passingthru69, bigguns, Diesel Dave and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah what shaft we talking about here? There's more than one shaft that could be classified as an output shaft. Transmission, diff etc.

thanks. -
If that is an Eaton rear with a snap ring on the front of that shaft that is very very fair. If it is a Rockwell and they only have to try to fish a shaft out it is still not bad. In ether case time fishing metal out with magnet and cost of new oil. If I could not get all the major pieces of the shaft to put the puzzle together I would pull the chunk to find them. Suprised he quoted it, I would only give an estimate.
wore out Thanks this. -
