    Since it's still active...
Thinking of retiring to central Colorado, and think I would enjoy running these types of loads if I could make some extra $. Owned several Class 8 trucks in my business before, but only drove under-CDL trucks myself, and have plenty of time in those. I would be able to purchase a truck/trailer with cash up front. Anybody with knowledge of the business in that area (Denver/Ski towns)? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

    Lite bug Thanks this.

I I know a few guys that are retired and do this. I am semi-retired myself as only work 3-4 days every week. Having everything paid for I am able to sit at home and wait until I get called. As far as I know that part of the country getting freight off the load board is hit or miss at best. I suggest getting freight lined up before you start investing in equipment. Even if you can purchase it outright I believe doing your homework will benefit you tremendously.

Great advice. I actually will be buying a ton dually for recreation purposes anyway, and figured with my previous experiences with trucks, why not use it to earn some dough as well. Being debt free makes a lot of things in life easier doesn't it?!

If you stay under 26,001 lbs you can use your B if not you will need to get your A. Although I run with a B you will be limiting yourself on freight. Where in Ohio?
