Probably tired of the yard dogs taking an extra 1-2 minutes getting a trailer in a door. Sure 1-2 minutes doesn't sound like much, but if you move 60 trailers a shift that's an extra hour or two for 5he yard dog. Every day... Every shift...

I think if that were the case they'd be going in the other direction.
No, I think they're addressing the guys that check in at the guard shack, and want to kill they're 30. Which is kinda silly at a live unload.

That’s what happens when some of these companies take away their yard move and/or personal conveyance. You get a bunch of drivers that end up creeping to try to conserve the remaining time on their clock!

Just a guess but their drivers are probably paid in such a manner that being on duty all the time once the clock starts is normal/beneficial and there's really no need to ever be concerned about being on that #3 or #4 line plus they probably never need to "save time" logging a bunch of on duty stuff as off duty. That said they still have a job to do and trucks all over the yard in the way running 5mph below the posted speed limit is really no different from left lane heroes doing the same thing out on the highway.

My guess is it's drivers being late to their doors.

Driver has a 0400 appointment, gets there 1800 the night before, checks in and parks in staging. 0345 gate calls driver and tells them to back into door 1937. Driver fires up the truck, builds some air pressure and finally pulls out of staging a 0355. Driver locks the truck into 1st gear and starts creeping to door 1937 which is a half mile away. Driver gets to door 1937 at 0425, then spends 15 minutes backing in and sliding tandems. By the time the dock workers can lock in the trailer, it's 0445.

One guy does it, it's an annoyance. One guy does it at each appointment slot, it's a problem. 3 guys do it at the first appointment slot and the entire dock schedule is FUBAR.

My guess is it's drivers looking to avoid starting their 14, not save on the 11 or 70. IE they have a 0400 appointment to unload at the Morris Costco and a 1300 appointment to live load at the Morris Nabisco that delivers into Tipp City Meijer at 2300. If the driver starts his clock at 0400, then it's impossible to get to Tipp City before his 14 runs out. If he doesn't get to Tipp City on time, he sits for 24 hours. If he can manage to wait until 0600, he's got a fighting chance; 0700 and he should be able to make it; 1000 and he's shaking hands with the clock.

I can see the first lawsuit coming when two trucks crash into each other, cause they were forced to go fast... LOL

Guarantee the right lawyer would take them to the cleaners over that sign... :biggrin_25513:

Part of what causes that is the guard shack calling 20 trucks at one time to go dock. I went to the Monroe Township, NJ Costco about a month ago. If you ever saw the cluster of trucks trying to back in all at once. It was about 20 min after they called me before I got in the door, and I crept there but nobody waits for one truck to finish backing before they square up and dock.

They probably need to send their drivers out during the day and receive at night or vice versa. That's the one advantage about if you go deliver to a PFG or something like that. You never have locals vs OTR

I had a d-bag doing it on Ford’s entry road, today. No one has time for it! A lot of us are already at 10+hrs of daily drive time, without getting hung up behind some amateur pulling this crap.
