Could I get my cdl revoked for having a medical marijuana card at the same time?

Medical marijuana is for the chronically ill. That's what's wrong with the program. They are giving them out to everyone that says they have an ailment even though they don't have one. Hence you are cheating the system so you can get a buzz without being hassled.

So why did you get a medical marijuana card? You can feed people a line of crap if you want. Plain and simple you are playing the system so you can get high when you deem it's okay. If you are sincere about trucking you would throw that card in the trash and never smoke again.

Though it's not illegal to have a card it is illegal to test positive for pot even with the card. They do have a reasonable suspicion drug test. You can expect more drug test with the card now that you made it known.
There is a reason you told the cop you have a pot card. Like you had a bag in your possession.

Even with a card you can still get a DWI if you test positive. Even in your personal vehicle then it is a one year suspension.

Being prescribed a pot card you have to make it known on your medical certificate or your medical certificate is invalid making your CDL invalid and it will be downgraded. With that on your medical certificate no company will touch you. You really haven't thought this move out.

THC stays in your system 30 days. Hair test can go 6 months. It must be nice to take off that long. The rest of us have bills to pay. :(

Because alcohol doesn't stay in your system 30 days. Trucking is a safety sensitive job.

Why do people that love to smoke weed try to get a safety sensitive job when they know they will get in trouble? Why not get a job that doesn't drug test and smoke your weekends away and be a happy camper?

It's not so much as condemning pot as it is condemning someone with no regards for the regulations. If they break one they will break 2,3,4,5.......

Believe it or not, many retail and restaurant establishments, that may or may not pay above minimum wage, also test for drugs. These same places will also terminate you if you come up positive on any of the forbidden drugs.

Many companies, many establishments, along with the U.S. military, law enforcement, security, as well as all transportation companies, have ZERO TOLERANCE POLICIES concerning all kinds of drugs.

Best rule of thumb: STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year!

It would not hurt to apply this rule of thumb to alcohol as well.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The issue isn't marijuana it's that this guy showed such poor judgement in this matter that I think it's valid to question his ability to make good decisions behind the wheel of a big rig. He might as well show up to a company orientation carrying a bong wearing a "legalize it" T-shirt. Honestly, it's better this guys poor judgement costs him his CDL than his poor judgement costing lives.

We as drivers really do make a lot of decisions every second it's easy to forget that after a while because it becomes like second nature, but sit down some time and think about how much driving safely relies on the area between our ears. Constant vigilance.

Marijuana might stay in your system for 30 days, but you aren't high or impaired for 30 days. You aren't impaired any longer than you are by alcohol. Ever been to a truck stop in Louisiana and seen gallons of hard liquor on the shelves?? A trucker can walk up and buy it, and use their CDL to prove their age if need be. Is that "safe"? Booze is everywhere and it's a killer but it's legal and it's been legal since prohibition ended, so it's more acceptable, even though it's DANGEROUS. It's insanity that they have the stuff stocked up at truck stops, but an adult can't smoke a joint in their own house on home time. Where is the logic there? btw, I don't drink or use drugs. I am straight edge all the way and my CDL is more important to me than just about anything. I just hate the snide comments like "get a job at Mcdonalds" or "you shouldn't be a driver, no offense." All the alchys out there scare me way more than someone smoking a joint on their couch at home.

Everyone's "judgement" on here is so pure. Who hasn't screwed up? Leave the OP alone. He has a problem. Nothing he has done is unsafe as far as I can see. He's asking questions.

Go pound sand, bird. You started out with a poor decision, smoking weed.
We are tired of the "drivers" who come on here and lambast us for setting them straight.
You made the decision to get a weed card, not us. That's on you, and you will pay the price.
We only hope that you don't take out granny and the kids on the way to church, because of your poor decision making skills.

The rest of us take very seriously what we do.
We don't need people coming into this industry, who cannot also take very seriously the choices that they will have to make.

No one bashed you. We simply stated our views of drivers, or in your; case, "wanna be" drivers our views on smoking pot.

And its obvious by your latest post that you actually have no real interest in this industry.

My suggestion keep your medical card and let your cdl laps. You dont belong in this industry.

And as far truckers and drinkers, I have heard of a trucker who had 18 yrs service in at the same company, he went into a t/s and bought a 6pk of beer one night and was turned in by another driver, needless to say he was fired. He may have been buying it to drink on his 10 off, or maybe was taking a 34hr soon, didn't matter, the possibility was there that he would drink and drive.
